Celebrate Camp Kindness Day: Fun & Meaningful Ideas
Here are fun, reflective, and easy-to-adapt ideas that come from FJC’s Character at Camp Pocket Guides, as part of our Character at Camp Initiative, which is a multi-year effort to understand and strengthen how Jewish camps cultivate character in campers and staff. These research-based, camp-tested resources are available for you to use and tailor to your camp’s unique culture and needs.

Kindness Pranks & Random Acts of Kindness
Put a joyful spin on classic camp pranks — like giving another group a surprise standing ovation. Brainstorm ways to spread “senseless love.”

Kindness Awards
Create opportunities for campers and staff to acknowledge empathy, teamwork, or deep acts of kindness.

ABCs of Kindness
Give each camper a letter and have them create a word or phrase tied to kindness or values. Then decorate and display them to build a visual alphabet of character.

Affirmation Songs
Campers write and perform silly or heartfelt songs using affirmations they create. Bonus: use campy tunes or include movement!

Mirror Affirmations
Decorate mirrors around camp with positive affirmations to pass the kindness along and remind campers to also be kind to themselves.

PDKs: Public Displays of Kindness
Design signs, posters, or murals with kindness quotes or visual reminders of what kindness looks like at camp.
