Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum age: 18 years
Experience or strong interest in environmental education, ecology, biology, or outdoor programming
Ability to interact positively with children ages 4-12
General understanding of youth development or a willingness to learn
Strong communication skills and comfort working with groups of various ages and abilities
Flexibility and a team-player attitude
Physical ability to work outdoors, including standing, bending, walking, and lifting
Responsibilities:
Nature Program Development & Instruction
Design and lead hands-on, age-appropriate nature activities (e.g., bug hunts, plant exploration, nature crafts, eco-games)
Foster environmental awareness and appreciation through engaging lessons and outdoor exploration
Maintain and prepare outdoor teaching spaces, ensuring cleanliness and safety
Collaboration & Materials Management
Coordinate with the Camp Director and Office Manager to order and organize materials
Present an overview of Nature programming at staff orientation
Contribute 1-2 short nature-related articles for the camp newsletter
Camper Supervision & Safety
Provide attentive supervision and care during all nature-based activities
Enforce camp safety protocols, especially in outdoor and wooded areas
Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Camp Director promptly
