A unique opportunity to spend the year working in partnership with both a synagogue and camp community, this position will work at Adas Israel during the year and Ramah Day Camp throughout the summer.
At the Ramah Day Camp of Greater Washington, DC, we provide
children entering grades K-5 with the very best camping experience in a setting of love, friendship, wonder and discovery, and a place where Judaism is integral to daily activities. In our busiest weeks, we have 210 campers enrolled. Each staff person receives a week of professional development prior to the summer and weekly once camp begins. Our camp team is fun, flexible, passionate about Jewish life and living, and has a love for working with children, staff, and families. We pride ourselves on camper care, being a day camp with an “overnight feel”,
Hebrew immersion, and our Tikvah program for campers who need additional support. We are looking for educators who can develop and implement age-appropriate curricula in Judaics, art, music, farming, or

Adas Israel is a growing 1600+ household Conservative synagogue in the heart of Washington, DC. The Education and Youth Department at Adas Israel is proud to serve our diverse family community from birth through college. Children, like adults, can feel drawn to Judaism in many different ways: through prayer, through learning, through social justice, through peer relationships and beyond. We are home to a number of different school experiences, programs, Shabbat and holiday services, family learning and youth groups to encourage our children and their grownups to engage in meaningful, communal
experiences throughout the course of the year. The Estelle and Melvin Gelman Religious School is an integral part of the congregation, serving over 450 students. Our religious school program seeks to provide an education designed to inspire our students to lead their lives as identified, committed Jews and ethical human beings. Our purpose is to instill Jewish values and a sense of pride in our students for their Jewish heritage, customs, language and traditions by creating a learning environment that is warm, challenging and enticing. The full time educators in the Education Department work to create and implement learning experiences, programs and services for our students in PreK-12th grade. The educators spend time programming and creating strong lessons, by utilizing various models and methods of teaching. Guidance and support are provided as well as opportunities to learn new tools in teaching and to join a peer group of passionate educators. We are seeking team members who are creative Jewish educators with a strong knowledge base of Jewish content, ranging from traditional Jewish texts to contemporary Jewish/Israeli wisdom and culture.
• Planning, implementation and assessment of specific programs for students across a variety of ages
• Teaching and engaging students in Religious School and High School classrooms
• Assist in the planning and facilitation of youth group events, shabbatonim, and Shabbat and holiday programming
• Collaboration with broader programming including, but not limited to High Holy Days, Purim programming, Israel
education, and Family Engagement programs.
• Involvement in planning and executing programs with youth groups
RequirementsRequirements: • Bachelors degree • Previous experience in a synagogue, camp or youth environment • Strong Jewish background and literacy • Comfortable and literate in traditional liturgy • Song leading/music skills a plus
