Overview

Reside on campus at during the camp season, typically from June through August

Plan, coordinate, oversee, implement and evaluate all aspects of Camp operations. This includes but is not limited to: recruitment of campers and staff, program development, staff training, coordination with site managers

Develop and oversee execution of programs that will keep the camp in the forefront of Jewish camps by soliciting feedback from camp families and staff

Supervise staff in a manner consistent with the values of the camp. Ensure that staff is provided with formal and informal feedback. Formal feedback should include a review of staff self evaluation and an action plan for improvement if necessary.

Plan and conduct pre-camp and in-camp staff training with the adult staff team.

Schedule and oversee implementation of daily programs for campers and staff.

Plan and oversee evening activities, Saturday activities and special events.

Qualities Sought in the Assistant Camp Director:

The overnight camp is a unique and exciting experience. The physical and emotional environment may present challenges.

Assistant Camp Director will be able to:

Identify and provide solutions to complex issues and concerns in a professional manner

Work collaboratively with children and adults.

Work under pressure, take direction, and work unaided on time-sensitive projects

Provide ongoing charismatic support to colleagues and other camp staff

Support and maintain a high level of customer service to camp families

Remain flexible

Compensation

20,000-25,000

Requirements

Qualifications of the Assistant Camp Director:


Minimum B.A. from an accredited college or university

Experience in directing youth programs and/or camps in a residential setting

Knowledge of program development, with an understanding of camp programming and Jewish experiential education to create an overall outstanding camp experience

Background in Jewish camping or other Jewish educational experiences

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Knowledge and commitment to “best practices” in the field
