Camp Agudah West at Torah Mountain Ranch is currently looking for an enthusiastic and energetic leader to be its Executive Business Director. This is a full-time, year-round position based in Los Angeles. It is a great opportunity for the right person to help create a new and exciting camp experience. During the year, the executive business director will work out of the Agudath Israel of California offices and during the summer will relocate to the campsite. Regular travel to the site throughout the year will be required.
The right candidate will be a young leader and strategic thinker, who can execute the camp’s vision for success. He or she will have demonstrated success in management and organization and will be an effective communicator who will help articulate and advance the camp’s mission and goals.
The Executive Business Director will work closely with the Camp Director and will report directly to the Board of Directors.
Camp Agudah West is located on a beautiful 183 acres near Big Bear Lake in sunny Southern California. Opening in Summer 2021, Camp Agudah West will serve the Orthodox Jewish communities throughout the west coast.
In its first summer, Camp Agudah West will have between 400 – 500 campers, split amongst two sessions, the girls in Tammuz and boys in Av.
Camp Agudah West is affiliated with Agudath Israel of California, and its parent organization, Agudath Israel of America. The camp’s ideals and values are those of a true Torah hashkafa.
The EBD’s essential skills and competencies should include:
• Fundraising and development expertise and/or capabilities
• Management expertise
• Financial acumen and budgeting expertise
• Ability to create and execute organizational plans and strategies
• Entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinker
• Collaborative working style
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Executive Management
o Together with Camp Director and the Board of Directors, create overall strategic plans, annual plans and assess organizational needs
o Hire, Train, Supervise, and Manage year-round and summer staff.
o Oversee year-round day-to-day operational responsibilities, including accounting, payroll, HR compliance, taxes, and all regulatory issues, including ACA compliance. Together with Camp Director, develop policies and maintain practices to ensure camper health and safety
o Oversee overall marketing plan. This will include working with the Camp Director who will be responsible for camper recruitment. Manage and implement year-long communication and marketing strategies.
o Design and implement administrative systems for camp programs, including registration, communications and enrollment process, database management and reporting.
o Develop and monitor budgets for camp and year-round activities.
• Fundraising and Development
o Lead all fund development efforts, including donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, and grant writing.
o Develop and cultivate Board leadership in a manner consistent with advancing CAW’s mission.
o Collaborate with the Foundation for Jewish Camps, local federations, AJOC, and other networks to stay abreast of trends and development opportunities and ensure the adoption and implementation of best practices
• Property Management
o Oversee property manager and ensure proper maintenance of camp facilities.
o Oversee the Retreat Center during the year and all rentals.
o Develop the property as required
o Oversee new building construction and development
As the camp grows, the business office will grow with it. The EBD will be responsible for the development and management of the office and will be responsible for hiring and delegating duties as required.
