Camp Massad is a warm and vibrant Hebrew speaking, overnight camp situated in the Laurentian mountains, one hour outside of Montreal. It serves the Modern Orthodox and traditional communities. Our mission is to ensure that every camper enjoys a fun, safe and nurturing summer through meaningful experience rooted in a shabbat observant and Zionist environment. 73 years young, Camp Massad goes to great lengths to enrich the lives of approximately 200 boys and girls and aims to provide each of them with a sense of Jewish identity, love of the Hebrew language and sense of community belonging.

The Camp Director will help ensure that the mission and vision of the camp are carried out in line with its values. This will be achieved through the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of assigned core responsibilities. Central to the success of this position is the ability to develop mutually respectful relationships with campers, parents, staff and the board of directors.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Primary Responsibilities – Year-Round (Part-time)

– Recruitment and management of all staff
– Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential
families, including through year-round programming
– Budget management
– Manage marketing needs, as required
– Create opportunities for partnerships with other organizations
– Provide regular progress reports to the Board of Directors

Primary Responsibilities – Summer (Full-time)

– Manage camp office, administrative, maintenance and camp staff –
mid-June to Mid-August
– Oversee operational issues related to the smooth running of camp,
including its opening & closing
– Oversee all programming requirements
– Responsible for staff management, training and mentorship

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge of program development, with an understanding of both camp programming and Jewish experiential education - Background in Jewish camping or other Jewish educational experiences - Outstanding ability to work independently, proactively, and as part of a team - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills - Knowledge of and commitment to “best practices” in the field - Knowledge of Hebrew - Current certification in first aid and CPR or the ability to become certified
