Description

The Camp & Educational Programs Manager is responsible for the education and public engagement of Urban Adamah’s youth and families in a variety of ways. This includes overseeing and ensuring the success of existing summer and winter camps, family programming, and youth programming. Additionally, depending on the interests and skills of the candidate, this position will also include the design and implementation of new teen or early childhood programming. The Manager’s focus is on sustaining relationships with camp families throughout the year, and creating access points for new YFP (Youth and Family Programs) participants to feel welcomed on the farm.

The Camp & Educational Programs Manager supervises 15-25 summer camp staff June-August, 10-15 winter camp staff in November-January, manages program-specific and seasonal staff, and designs content and curriculum as needed.

CAMP URBAN ADAMAH

Camp offers campers a taste of Jewish values and meaning, and organic farm life, through fun and dynamic hands-on programs at Urban Adamah. Camp sessions are designed around children’s natural curiosity and innate connection to the earth. Camp Urban Adamah has both Winter and Summer sessions.

The Camp & Educational Programs Manager will hold the primary responsibility for a successful camp season in the following ways:

Camp prep:

Hiring, training, and managing camp staff
Designing camp programming that creatively integrates Jewish content with organic farming content, and that is dynamic and inquiry based while also ensuring a safe environment for participants
Revising the CIT and Internship programs
Assisting the Educational Programs Director in further developing the Summer Specialist Program
Partnering with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure camp marketing and registration
Materials inventory and purchasing
Curriculum and schedule management

During camp:

Supervising 10-15 camp counselors, nurturing their professional growth, and creating a collaborative, supportive and growth-oriented environment for camp staff
Ensuring that campers and counselors are having a safe, fun and enriching experience
Liaising with parents and other stakeholders to address individual camper needs with assistance and support from the Educational Programs Director
Tracking and working within the camp budget with assistance and support from the Educational Programs Director
Managing camp logistics and administration with support from summer support staff

Post camp:

Ensuring ongoing/year-round engagement with camp families
Surveying camp families at the end of each session to assess program strengths and growth areas
Surveying camp families throughout the year, on a quarterly basis, to learn their programmatic interests, likelihood to return to and recommend camp to others, etc.

ALL YEAR PROGRAMMING

At Urban Adamah All Year, youth in kindergarten through fourth grade meet two Sundays a month during the school year to build their understanding of the ways in which sustainable agriculture and connection to the earth intersect with Jewish tradition and ritual in deeply experiential and meaningful ways. The Camp & Educational Programs Manager will work in collaboration with the Youth Education Programs Manager to manage and administer Urban Adamah’s All Year program.

FAMILY PROGRAMS

Urban Adamah offers a variety of programs designed for families. Our programs give families the opportunity to experience the farm through hands-on activities that connect us to the food we eat, our bodies, Jewish values, and the cycles of nature.
Maintain existing programs, such as Tot Shabbats, Family holiday events, etc.
Execute new family programming initiatives as directed by the Educational Programs Director

MARKETING

Provide guidance and support to the Marketing & Communications Manager with all Youth & Family Programs focused marketing
Help ensure all programs are well known in the community and are attractive to a growing number of potential participants

TEEN OR EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMMING

Depending on the skill set and interests of the candidate, the Camp & Educational Programs Manager will help design either new teen or new early childhood programming as directed by and in collaboration with the Educational Programs Director. The Camp & Educational Programs Manager will lead outreach, develop content, manage all administrative tasks, and serve as the primary leader of this new programming.

Compensation

$66,000 - $78,000

Requirements

You are passionate about Urban Adamah’s mission and have the background and experience to create and facilitate meaningful farm-based Jewish experiences for youth and their families. You are able to design and manage large, creative and content-rich programs gracefully, getting down to the details of scheduling, administrative tasks and logistics, while supervising and guiding young adults as they facilitate community building, play-based, Jewishly meaningful outdoor experiences for youth.
