If you like working with kids and staff, our dynamic and community-centered organization is looking to add an energetic, conscientious, and resourceful Program Coordinator to join our team. The Program Specialist is responsible for overseeing each program area and ensuring that Program Coordinator have the tools and support they need to successfully facilitate. This includes setting the camp schedule and overseeing all specialty camps.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve on the Camp Leadership team along with the Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Camper Care Specialist
Supervise all specialty areas (Farm, STEM/Nature, Sports, & Arts and Crafts) and dedicated 2-week speciality camps
Develop and prepare counselors with a weekly and daily activity schedule
Coordinate any programming with outside partners/vendors, ie a visit from the Snake Educator
Create and implement weekly themes and other relevant special events
Plan and implement experiences that foster an understanding of a variety of cultures and provides experiences and play materials that respect all aspects of diversity
Daily emails and reminders for staff and parents
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This role is in-person, seasonal, and full time during the camp season, May 23 – August 19, 2022. This includes pre-season training and prep time as well as post camp clean up and inventory.
Camp is operated outdoors unless weather prohibits it. Working conditions include spending full days under the sun in all temperatures.
The Program Coordinator will also have an indoor designated space for phone calls and computer work.
We have a full week of counselor training before the camp season begins and an additional week for specialists. Sessions will be on line and in person for counselor training. This position will take a lead in planning and running the staff training.
Compensation
$15-17/hrRequirements
QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 18 years old Experience or willingness to work with young children (ages 4 – 12) Has the ability to think and act creatively, be flexible, demonstrate pride of work, and is caring about the individuals they serve. Supervisory experience Experience in program planning and curriculum building in a formal or informal educational setting COMPENSATION This is a non-exempt hourly position with a salary range of $15-17/hour commensurate with experience.
