Camper Care CoordinatorAt Habonim Dror Camp Galil
Parent Liaison/Camper Care Coordinator is an essential member of the Habonim Dror Camp Galil (Galil) professional staff. The Parent Liaison/Camper Care Coordinator is responsible for camper care before and during the summer. The staff member works with the summer staff and the Executive Director to ensure that any camper issue is resolved. The position involves residence at Camp throughout the summer in Ottsville, PA.
Camper Care Management:
-Ability to effectively assess children on multiple levels (social, educational, academic, physical psychological, medical) to determine their suitability for a camp program
-Experience with and knowledge of a variety of disabilities/disorders and a variety of emotional challenges and physical limitations.
-Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate effectively with a number of different stakeholders (parents, counselors, unit supervisors, medical staff, camp administration, etc.)
-Maintain parent contact during the camp season regarding preparation for summer session, implementation of program, and follow up evaluation
-Coordinate with Community Director for camper care resources (medical forms, parent questionnaires, health-related questions), intake procedures and resources for camp families and staff members.
-Work with Executive Director to develop and provide a pre-camp inclusion training module for all staff
-Works with the Summer Leadership team, and specifically the Camper Care Specialist, to support campers and staff with regards to mental and emotional health needs
-Provide ongoing training and support to specialists, unit heads, faculty, health center, and kitchen staff
-Serve on the camp crisis management team
-Provide short- and long-term support of staff members of campers with disabilities
-Design individual work placements for staff with disabilities and ongoing task analysis
-Work collaboratively with the camp director around a number of camp issues including inclusion, health and safety, camper issues, and staff morale
-Model and advocate acceptance and understanding for campers and staff with disabilities
-Significant experience in a camp environment is strongly preferred, while prior success in youth engagement/education is required. (Familiarity with Judaism and Jewish education (formal and/or informal) is highly desirable.)
-Proven ability to be highly organized and efficient and the ability to effectively multi-task are required.
-High potential for success with customer service
-The ability to work independently and proactively, as well as the capacity for effective collaboration and support of others.
-A positive outlook and high level of enthusiasm for making a difference in the lives of Jewish children, adults and families is essential.
