CounselorAt Sababa Beach Camps

Posted Jan 26, 2022 Job Length Summer

Sababa meaning “no worries” inspires us to be in the moment and fully present in all we do. We
believe that surfing, sailing, scuba, ocean arts and ocean science promote wonder, awe, and
curiosity – the cornerstones of Sababa Judaism. We celebrate that campers come from all
different Jewish backgrounds, and that is what makes the Sababa Beachaway community so

As a Sababa camp counselor, you have a dual role: you live in a college dormitory setting with your group and are the primary caregiver for each camper. In addition, you will teach/coach in your activity area of expertise (such as art, yoga, meditation, sport, music, etc.). Each counselor has two distinct supervisors, the Head Counselor, who oversees all aspects of a particular age group, and the Program Head, who oversees the activity area in which a staff member is teaching. Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper.

Working with 1 to 3 co-counselors, you are responsible for the supervision of a group of campers. Each group forms its own little community, living and playing creating strong bonds and friendships!

You are also assigned to teach a specific activity based on your experience. Throughout the day, you teach and share your knowledge with campers. The Program Head will work with you on curriculum, program development, and your on-going training.
