The Mandel JCC, Boynton Beach, Director of Camping, Youth and Family Programs is responsible for leadership, design, development, supervision, marketing, outreach, and management of the implementation, budgeting, and evaluation of youth and family programming and activities provided by the Mandel JCC at the Ross building in Boynton Beach. This includes Camp Shalom Summer and Vacation Camps, daily After-school Program, After-school Enrichment Classes, Children, Teen and Family Programs, Birthday Parties and Special Events.

The role is expected and empowered to maintain positive, courteous and professional relationships with families and children enrolled in the youth and camp programs, all JCC staff, officers and board members, sponsors, donors, other agency personnel, professional staff from other related agencies and community members within the larger community.


•Responsible for long range and current year planning, financial management, strategic planning and overseeing curriculum development for department;
•Works with the JCC Managing Director in Boynton Beach and peer Program Directors such as Preschool Director, Membership and Wellness Director and Adults Director to improve the delivery of comprehensive and coordinated programs and services to members;
•Supervises the Afterschool Director and other positions within the department.
•Directly responsible for Camp Shalom programs;
•Provides leadership to staff in conceptualizing, organizing, implementing and evaluating high quality, innovative and comprehensive programs for all departments under supervision;
•Leads outreach and engagement activities; partners with marketing to meet enrollment goals;
•Leads program evaluation, participant surveys, and improvement activities to ensure high quality programs and meet customer satisfaction and retention goal;
•Manages, guides and provides ongoing feedback to staff on a regular and annual basis to set and review goals, objectives, and expectations; holds staff accountable to federal and state laws, company policies and position requirements;
•Ensures strict confidentiality of privileged information;
•Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures, including agency safety requirements;
•Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks, and be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines;
•Any additional duties agreed upon by Managing Director, Boynton Beach.

Management, Supervision and Administration

•Leads program planning to ensure annual action plans and goals are established; monitors and reports performance against plan for all departments under supervision;
•Works with program coordinators and Managing Director in Boynton Beach to prepare yearly budget and maintain fiscal responsibility for all expenditures and income for all related programs and services;
•Hires, trains and supervises all staff in partnership with program coordinators;
•Provides management and supervisory oversight to all direct reports and their subordinates;
•Ensures that all required equipment is maintained to ensure safety and programs satisfaction;
•Follows all safety, First Aid and CPR procedures;
•Works with staff, to ensure all supply inventories are maintained to keep programs operating at optimum level to maintain participant satisfaction;
•Maintains all standards set forth by the Florida Department of Children and Families for Summer Day Camp and all programs;
•Provides a clean, safe and well maintained environment for all members and guests;
•Works collaboratively with Marketing department the ensure all necessary marketing materials and methods are completed to ensure programmatic success;
•Communicates on a daily basis with JCC members and participants and ensure all concerns or issues are handled promptly.

•Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university;

•Minimum 3-5 years of management/supervisory experience and a minimum of 3-5 years of Camp Director experience;
•Proven sales ability with strong customer focus, both internally and externally and the ability to foster this attitude and skill in others;
•Expertise in creative program development, implementation and evaluation;
•Strong supervisory skills with the ability to train and manage staff;
•Highly detail-oriented in the ability to plan, organize and implement programs and services;
•Working knowledge of short and long-term planning, budgeting, and program development;
•Ability to build strong partnerships in an environment of collaboration, both internally and externally with particular emphasis in the Jewish Community;
•Ability to work collaboratively with agency staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere, and maintain courteous and professional working relationships with clients, vendors and outside contacts of agency;
•Ability to develop and sustain a team approach to program and service development;
•Excellent ability to adapt communication and interpersonal style to Jewish, Interfaith and general audiences;
•Strong understanding, appreciation and passion for the mission and values of the JCC;
•Strong knowledge of Jewish culture, heritage and traditions;
•Ability to work efficiently, effectively and independently to complete assignments in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing tasks and demands;
•Must be proficient in use of standard office equipment, computer programs and have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
•Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required;
•Willingness to perform other related duties as needed, required or assigned.


•Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, and sitting;
•Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation;
•Position requires occasional travel in the local area. Must have reliable vehicle and requires maintaining a valid Florida State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable agency insurance;
•Frequent exposure to outside elements (i.e. sun exposure, heat, humidity, rain);
•Noise level can be moderate to loud.
