Description

The Director of Community Care is a vital part of the Moshava Alevy team working in the area of MESH (Mental, Emotional, and Social Health) and wellbeing efforts of our camp program. They provide ongoing support to create a successful experience for campers and staff with a range of needs at camp. Working closely with the Camper Care Team and the Camp Leadership Team, this person provides both administrative support, as well as direct service to campers and staff to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment.
This role is a seasonal summer full-time position (on site), with specific responsibilities before the summer camp session begins. During the summer session, the position will include time on, on call hours (including evenings), and flexible breaks. The Camper Care team (including the Camp Director, Rosh Moshava, and Camp Parents) will create the daily/weekly schedule collaboratively based on needs this summer. During the pre-camp period work will be virtual. The Community Care Director reports to the Camp Director.

Staff
● Playing a leadership role in the planning and implementation of staff training and ongoing staff learning related to mental, emotional, and social health
● Creating and implementing programming for groups of staff members focused on their own wellness and social-emotional learning
● Providing on-going support to staff in determining the appropriate response to campers’ behavioral/emotional/mental health needs and in understanding the social dynamics between campers in each bunk
● Working directly with individual staff navigating their own MESH challenges
● Serving as an emotional resource to staff when needed
● Attending staff meetings regularly
Campers
● Serving as a resource to campers and staff throughout the summer in facing mental, emotional, and social health challenges, and creating environments where campers can thrive
● Managing information about camper needs, and communicating those to staff, as well as documenting communication and plans within Moshava Alevy’s systems
● In coordination with Camp Parents, working directly with individual campers who are having personal challenges with mental, emotional, and social health
● Reviewing camper files prior to each session for the purpose of assessing and anticipating campers’ needs
Parents
● Communicating and managing relationships with parents/caregivers in regards to camper needs (pre-camp and during the camp session)
● In coordination with Camp Parents, consulting with parents to provide updates and problem solve any challenges in situations where behavior or adjustment issues arise
Administrative/General
● Preparing a summer-end reports to funding agencies in relationship to mental emotional and social health of Moshava Alevy and its campers
● Being an active presence on-site at camp as a part of the community
● Assisting in supervising Camp Parents
● Keeping Director and appropriate other key leadership informed of all camper situations and
issues as they arise
● Additional responsibilities as required

Requirements

Requirements:
● Available for the entire Camp Season, 6/18/2023 - 8/15/2023
● Graduate-level or higher degree in a mental health field. Including, but not limited to: social work,
mental health counseling, psychology, youth psychiatry, family therapy, etc.
● Exceptional skill and capacity for engagement and relationship building with both children and
their parents
● Proven ability to plan, originate, and organize programs
● Proven ability to provide emotional support to a wide range of ages
● Be a leader, self-starter, and strong collaborator
● Ability to accept guidance, constructive feedback, and support from teammates
