Location: Remote (Midwest strongly preferred). Important: This position requires full-time presence at Camp Tavor in Three Rivers, MI. during summer season (early Jun-mid Aug). Ideal candidates are based in the Midwest during the off-season.

About the Position: Camp Tavor seeks a dedicated and collaborative executive director to lead, manage, and grow the camp. This hands-on director reports to the Board of Directors, manages a year-round team of four staff, and is responsible for being on site and overseeing the daily operations of summer camp from early June through mid-August each year. The ED nurtures the development of young Jewish leaders, motivated by the organizational values of collective responsibility, social justice, equality, peace and coexistence in Israel and North America, as specified by Habonim Dror North America (HDNA). The ED is a coach who supports the camp’s youth leadership in the management of camp programming and operations, while retaining responsibility for the fiscal and organizational health of the organization.
About Habonim Dror Camp Tavor: Camp Tavor has been operating in Michigan for the last 65 years and runs an overnight summer camp as well as year-round programs for children aged 8-18. Camp Tavor is one of six summer camps affiliated with Habonim Dror North America and is governed by board organizational bylaws. Camp Tavor is dedicated to youth leadership, inclusion, values-based experiential education, and educating towards a just future in the United States and Israel.

Position Responsibilities:
• Organizational Management
• Lead staff and Board in organizational planning, decision making, and needs assessment.
• Coordinate communication and partnership between Board members and staff.
• Provide leadership, support, and training to year-round team.
• Develop and maintain administrative and communication systems to support optimal year-round camp operations.
• Develop and implement policies and practices to optimize camper health, safety and wellbeing.
• Develop and manage the budget in coordination with the finance committee.
• Oversee financial, operational, and administrative functions, including billing, deposits, monthly reconciliation, payroll and taxes and insurance.
• Support team to ensure effective communications to facilitate enrollment, alumni engagement, and development goals.
• Camp Management
• Oversee day-to-day operational responsibilities of Camp Tavor throughout the academic year and provide onsite operational oversight at Three Rivers campsite during summer months.
• Ensure that policies and practices meet American Camping Association (ACA) accreditation standards and are in compliance with county, state, and other regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with local regulatory agencies to ensure the campsite is meeting all relevant health and safety requirements.
• Manage camp clinic, including hiring and supporting seasonal clinic healthcare staff.
• Coordinate with on-site camp grounds manager and ensure maintenance of campsite and progress on key facilities improvement projects.
• Support youth leadership development model; serve as mentor to young adult staff.
• Partner and coach youth leadership team in programs and operations management.
• Lead kitchen staff; ensure robust, healthy options, and careful management of dietary needs.
• Camp Enrollment
• Set and meet enrollment goals for camp including recruitment and retention.
• Manage camp scholarship programs.
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations.
• Manage systems and culture related to stewardship of prospective and current parents.
• Board Partnership & Fundraising
• Collaborate with the Board to set strategic priorities for camp and support camp activities.
• Collaborate with the Board on Strategic Planning.
• Partner with Board Chair to develop agendas and prepare materials for Board meetings (virtually and in person), and provide Board meeting materials.
• Participate in Board committees and advise committee chairs.
• Collaborate with Board on development plans and strategies, oversee development efforts including donor solicitation and stewardship, donor database, campaigns, and grant writing.
• Partnership Development
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and supporters, represent Tavor at meetings and annual gatherings.
• Develop community partnerships and support educational outreach to assist with recruitment and enrollment goals for camp.
• Track trends and best practices in the fields of camping and Jewish camping and integrate into Camp Tavor’s goal setting and planning.
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5 years’ experience in camp leadership.
• Previous overnight camp experience preferred.
• 5 years’ experience managing a mission-driven team to success.
• 5+ years’ experience overseeing financial, administrative, and operational responsibilities for an organization.
• 3+ years’ experience as a coach or mentor or supporting youth development
• Ability to demonstrate commitment to social justice.
• 1 year experience with Jewish organizations with an ability to demonstrate familiarity with Jewish community.
• Exceptional communication skills: ability to adjust communication style to accommodate diverse audiences.
• Desire to work independently and as a part of a vibrant, busy work environment.
• Some proficiency in Hebrew preferred.
• Experience and comfort with Google Suite, CRM platforms (CampMinder and Little Green Light preferred), and QuickBooks strongly preferred.

Essential Functions of the Job. Ability to:
• Live at camp during summers.
• Sit at a computer operating office equipment such as computers, scanners, printers, video conference and telephone equipment daily.
• Ability to communicate orally via videoconference, telephone, and in person with diverse audiences
• Drive a car for extended periods at a time with some frequency throughout the Midwest.
• Travel via airplane domestically several times per year.
• Work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, including walking uphill and carrying items weighing up to 15 lbs from one point to another.
• Walk on various terrain at camp: dirt, concrete, mud, sand.
• Walk up and down stairs.
