The Hebrew Educational Society, a thriving multi-service, comprehensive community center located in southeast Brooklyn, provides a diverse array of programs and services within a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment that is inclusive of people of all ages and ability levels. Programs include Early Childhood, After School, Camps, Athletic, Older Adults, People with disabilities, as well as programs to address the multiple needs of a burgeoning Israeli and Orthodox Jewish community.
Matnas H.E.S. is our cultural Israeli Center that offers varied activities and programs focused around Israeli culture, fulfill the cultural and social needs of the Southeast Brooklyn Israeli Community. The program director will be responsible for development, outreach, planning, implementation, and supervision of current programs as well as plan and manage a variety of special events and innovative program throughout the year for various audiences. Current programs include an offsite Israeli summer camp, afterschool, Sunday Funday, PJ Library and cultural and holiday events for audiences of all .
We are seeking a Director who is energetic, creative, enthusiastic and well organized with strong communication and leadership skills that has knowledge and a strong connection to Israel and its culture.
RequirementsNecessary Skills • Strong connection to both Israeli and American identities and extensive knowledge about its people and culture. • Program leadership experience, i.e camp and or after school care • Experience and ability to bring an entrepreneurial spirit in all aspects of program development. • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills which foster the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. • Desire and ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team. • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills. • Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including occasional nights and weekends. • Bachelor’s degree required • Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English and Hebrew desired.
