The job of the Lead Counselor is acting as the primary caregiver of each camper. Lead Counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and skills.
Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of health and safety for all campers
Plans all details of daily open time activities.
Leads and assists in teaching of all activities.
Responsible for campers during swimming; assisting instructors as directed during instructional swim; engaging with campers during free swim, or acting as eyes on deck.
Works within the group to facilitate conflict resolution.
Responsible for achieving 100% participation from campers.
Actively participates in all program areas as assigned.
Assures campers are properly supervised at all times.
Be a good role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
Work together with other staff members
Responsible for writing weekly newsletter.
Communicates with Camp Director, Assistant Director, Camp Manager and Specialists.
Supervises support staff within your group, reports any concerns to Director/Asst. Director.
Stays with the group at all times.
Report and document any injuries, notify Senior Staff immediately of serious injury.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Staff training week is the week of June 1st.
Strong organizational and planning skills. Team player, flexible, strong leadership skills and willingness to be playful, creative and think out of the box.
If you have an understanding of youth development and are a self starter looking for invaluable experience working with kids ages 5-14, this is the place for you.
Preferably completed freshman year in college.
