JEWISH
• Promote Shmirat HaGuf – the health and wellness of our souls – as a key concept in camp, in partnership with the Community Care Director, Health and Wellness Director and Jewish Life Director
• Actively participate and demonstrate respect in ritual moments
• Incorporate core values and summer theme in meaningful and appropriate ways

ARTS
• Keep Programming staff, Arts Mentors, and Faculty (where appropriate) apprised of situations which may impact the participation of campers or staff in daily routine
• Circulate in the camp community during daily programming
• Support campers in their skills training and artistic growth
• Cheer at showcase

CAMP
• Guide and support campers and staff in moments of crisis, severe homesickness, and mental, emotional, or social challenges. Aid participants and staff through mindfulness and therapeutic techniques, with the goal of re-engaging in activities.
• Coach counselors on navigating camper challenges and support campers through difficulties (i.e. moments of sadness, mental health concerns, camper-camper/camper-staff conflict) beyond the expertise of counselors
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions with campers and staff
• Hold counselors accountable for daily camper logs, review with Community Care Coordinator, and take corrective action where necessary
• Make, return, and document parent/guardian communications regarding camper challenges and successes
o When permitted, communicate directly with campers’ mental health professionals
• Share staff and camper successes and challenges with Community Care Director and Assistant Director, referring participants to those partners where necessary
• Provide support as needed on counselor days/evenings off
• Accompany ill or injured campers off-site for medical attention as needed
• Monitor and maintain the supplies in Chill Zone Bags
• Actively participate and encourage others in camp activities
• Contribute to the overall positive morale of the camp community
• Maintain strict confidentiality of staff, camper, and family information
• Other duties as requested

Compensation

$3,000-$4,000

Requirements

Responsibilities Start Date: Spring, 2022 Westtown Arrival Date: June 19, 2022 End and Westtown Departure Date: Monday, August 8, 2022 Supervised by: Community Care Director Minimum Qualifications: Hiring subject to applicable URJ and Pennsylvania State background checks. Prior experience working with and fondness for elementary and middle school-age children in a formal or informal setting. Supervisory experience is preferred. Must be a grad student, graduate in social work, mental health counseling, special education or similar field. Familiarity with customer service communications a plus. Calm under pressure with a proven track record of excellent organizational and communications skills; comfort in managing multiple projects with and for multiple stakeholders. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and work as part of a team. Comfort with Office Suite and ability to learn new technology. Excellent driving record. Love and/or respect for The Arts and a diverse community is a must. 21 years of age by June 1, 2022.
