Who We Are: Camp Tel Yehudah’s dynamic program of experiential education, activism, and leadership development, connects teens to Israel and Judaism. As Young Judaea’s national teen leadership camp, we are a community dedicated to fun, friendships, learning and social action.

About the Position: Under the supervision of the Community MESSH (Mental, Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Health) Director, the Staff Wellness Manager is the primary professional responsible for the development of successful mental health support structures for staff. This is a seasonal summer full-time non-exempt position, with part-time hours before summer session begins.

Essential Job Functions:
Before the summer season:
● Work with Directors on staff training and developing a plan for ongoing staff learning
● Work with Directors on updating staff evaluation forms
During the summer season:
● Be present at camp on-site for the full duration of camp (housing is provided), weaving yourself into the fabric of the camp community
● Assist madrichim (counselors) and merakzim (unit heads) in problem solving cases wherein campers and staff need special support
● Serve as an emotional resource to staff as needed
● Communicate with supervisors and Directors to keep discussions open regarding staff issues
● Work with the MESSH team to design and lead training for staff about community and self care
● Create a plan for ongoing staff training on areas of mental health in camp
● Attend Leadership Team meetings
● Record notes about mental health interventions and situations, successes, and challenges, in our camp database
● Facilitate discussions, when needed, between counselors, unit heads, and leadership staff, as a mediator
● Work collaboratively with the rest of the MESSH Team to support the Mental, Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Health of the camp community

Requirements

Who You Are:
● You have strong abilities in functioning both independently and as part of a team
● Enjoy being around teens and young adults
● Care deeply about community building
● Love the summer camp environment
● Energetic and available to jump in at any time
● Working towards or possess a graduate degree in a mental health field; previous experience in a camp, school, or similar setting preferred
● Experience, interest and comfort in supporting adolescent and young adult mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health
● An ability to think critically and act swiftly in high stress situations
● Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort in communication with children and young adults
● The inclination to be a caring, empathetic, patient, hardworking, and diligent professional who takes initiative and is creative, enthusiastic, open-minded, and high-energy
