Description
Berkshire Hills is seeking a Unit Supervisor with a MESH background to lead adolescents and young adults during this time of high anxiety and change. Adolescents have dealt with different forms of isolation and disconnection during this pandemic. This came at a time in their lives when they are already experiencing changing social dynamics as well as physical, emotional, and mental changes. The Unit Supervisor will actively support these campers and the staff who supervise them.
Compensation
$6000-8000Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Direct supervision of counselors and assigned program specialists, which includes staff scheduling, on-going staff training, guidance, support, accountability, and safety
• Implement writing and giving of staff performance reviews during various points of the summer season
• Communicate and manage relationships with parents/caregivers regarding their children’s wellbeing and safety, especially first-time camp families and when concerns arise
• Plan and implement staff training sessions and ongoing staff learning related to mental, emotional, and social health of both campers and themselves
• Assist staff in problem solving cases where campers need special support and staff need to implement some behavior management techniques
• Serve as a resource to campers and staff throughout the summer especially when it comes to their wellbeing
• Create an environment where campers can thrive and build resiliency
• Collaborate with and delegate to the Assistant Unit Supervisor
• Create, facilitate, and oversee all unit and evening activities
• Participate in Leadership meetings
• Support and enact all Leadership decisions
Requirements:
• Minimum age and Education: 21 with 2 years of college or equivalent experience
• Desire and ability to work with children and young adults in a camp setting
• Ability to live on camp property for the entire camp season
• Previous camp and/or school experience a plus
• Salary: $5,000-$8,000/summer depending on experience
