Social Worker/Camp Care Team Member
The Social Worker/Camp Care Team Member plays a vital role during the camp season. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, they are responsible for resolving issues such as socialization, conflict resolution, mental health challenges, and homesickness. They provide guidance to campers and staff, fostering responsible and respectful choices. A key responsibility is the development of MESSH (Mental, Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Health) support structures and programming for campers and staff. This seasonal, full-time position operates with part-time hours prior to the summer season.
Dates of Employment: June 11, 2025 – August 15, 2025
Specific Responsibilities:
-Collect intake information about campers prior to the start of camp.
-Provide outreach to campers’ support network (e.g., psychologists, social workers).
-Collaborate with the Associate Director on staff training.
-Draft behavioral plans and contracts for campers as needed.
-Debrief and provide guidance to campers and staff after crises or traumatic events; follow up with camper families as appropriate.
-Communicate with parents/caregivers regarding camper needs and progress.
-Record mental health interventions, successes, and challenges in the camp database.
-In partnership with the camp leadership team, serve as a resource to campers, parents, and staff regarding MESSH challenges, fostering an environment for growth and success.
-Assist counselors, specialists, and division leaders in problem-solving cases where extra support is needed.
-Serve as an emotional resource for staff when needed.
-Communicate with parents alongside the Director and Associate Director to maintain open discussions regarding camper growth or challenges.
Qualifications:
-Must be 21 years of age or older.
-Graduate or higher-level degree in a mental health field (e.g., social work, psychology).
-Previous experience in a camp, school, or similar setting is preferred.
-Ability to think critically and act calmly in high-stress situations.
-Strong ability to function independently and as part of a team.
-Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records.
Camp Songleader
Mission Statement
Perlman Camp exists to provide children with a safe, fun and enriching summer camp experience in a Jewish environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior work or educational experience in song leading (experience in camp setting a plus)
Experienced song leader with knowledge of English and Hebrew songs
Ability to play guitar
Prior camp or youth work experience preferred
Ability and presence to lead large groups of children and adults in song
Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Availability for entire camp season (June 11th-August 18th)
General Responsibility
To direct and run camp’s music program (as listed below)
Specific Responsibilities
Be available for pre-camp conversation and pre-camp planning.
Participate in Leadership and Staff training.
Bring an enthusiasm for Jewish music and music education to the camp community.
Provide musical support and accompaniment for pluralistic Shabbat services (Friday night, Saturday morning, and Havdalah).
Assist in music aspects of evening activities, campfires, performances and all-camp special events.
Lead song sessions throughout the week and on Shabbat.
Integrate new songs and ideas into camp program; teach English and Hebrew songs to campers.
Create lesson plans for all music hobbies and bunk activities; and teach hobbies and bunk activities throughout the summer.
Be a positive, contributing member of the Perlman staff

Kitchen Manager
General Purpose
Under the direction of the Perlman Camp Program & Operations Manager, the Kitchen Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of all food preparation and service operations. The Kitchen manager plans, prepares and supervises the preparation of meals for Perlman Camp and all rental groups alongside the Head Chef.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Menu
Along with the head chef, the kitchen manager will plan nutritious, delicious, well-balanced menus for meals and snacks, taking group ages, programming, dietary needs, allergies, and special requests into account.
Manage and oversee the special diets kitchen to ensure food safety and quality for individuals with food allergies and restrictions.
Submit detailed menus to camp directors for approval)
Budget
Manage and execute all food and kitchen supplies procurement.
Maintain food cost records.
Work with Administrators to keep food, supply, and staff costs within the approved budget.
Standards, Regulations, and Policies
Implement American Camp Association accreditation standards related to Food Service
Abide by all state and local health department regulations.
Follow and enforce all camp policies and procedures pertaining to kitchen, food storage, and dining hall.
Staff
Train food service staff per ServSafe, American Camp Association and Pennsylvania Health Department guidelines.
Create and oversee a work schedule for kitchen staff and assign work hours to employees.
Supervise and manage food service employees.
Hospitality
Supervise dining room procedures and see that the dining room is attractively maintained and clean.
Maintain a high level of customer service for our participants and guests.
Maintain a running inventory of food and supplies in the camp kitchen.
Ensure that the camp kitchen is clean and ready for use.
Equipment
Arrange for the proper care and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Inform the maintenance team and Director team of the failure of any kitchen equipment to operate properly.
Communication Supervisor
Camp Harlam is seeking a Summer Communications Supervisor to lead and oversee a dynamic team of photographers, videographers, and digital media specialists. This role is essential in ensuring that the vibrant camp experience is effectively captured and shared with campers, families, and the broader community. The Communications Supervisor will be responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive media strategy, managing real-time content creation, and curating materials for post-season use, including social media and the yearbook.
As a key member of Camp Harlam’s Summer Leadership Team, the Communications Supervisor will play a pivotal role in overseeing digital storytelling, ensuring high-quality media coverage of major camp events, and maintaining an organized workflow for daily content updates. This individual will work closely with the Assistant Director, who provides direct supervision in order to align content creation with the camp’s brand, mission, and communication goals. Additionally, they will be expected to contribute to the overall success of camp operations by supporting broader leadership initiatives as needed.
Director
Principle Responsibilities:
The Day Camp Director is the primary professional responsible for the day-to-day, summertime, and year-round operations of our Day Camp in suburban Philadelphia. The Day Camp Director oversees a camp program that serves over 200 campers and 100 staff members each summer. Our director is in charge of the Jewish educational vision of our camp program and should be innovating our educational offerings, hiring and managing qualified staff, and ensuring the safety of our camp community. In addition, the Day Camp Director is responsible for the sound fiscal management of an annual Day Camp budget.
The Day Camp Director will supervise our Day Camp assistant director, and work alongside our entire year-round staff, and will be directly supervised by our Executive Director.
Year-Round Responsibilities:
• Coordinating recruitment efforts throughout the year to maintain a healthy camper enrollment each summer.
• Creating and attendance at year-long calendar of events, including but not limited to, open houses, community events, camper reunions, etc. which aim to connect the community to camp throughout the course of the year.
• Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training a full roster of talented, dedicated, and inspiring staff members who make Ramah Day Camp a warm, nurturing environment.
• Working alongside our Development of Advancement to identify and actualize fundraising projects specifically for our day camp, as well as be a full and active participant in organizational development activities.
• Serving as the primary professional on our Day Camp Committee, a standing sub-committee of our Board of Directors.
• Working alongside our Tikvah Director, continuing to maintain and expand upon the Tikvah (Special Needs) offerings at our Day Camp, ensuring the creation of an inclusive Jewish environment.
• Attending and participating in several yearly conferences, including those related to Ramah, the American Camp Association, and the Jewish Agency training seminar in Israel.
• Creating, analyzing, and managing a comprehensive annual budget, working alongside our Executive Director, Director of Finance, and our Finance Department.
• Partnering with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in determining strategic vision, long-range and short-range planning for the Day Camp.
Summertime Responsibilities:
• Managing the day-to-day operations of a safe, fun, and experiential Jewish day camp.
• Overseeing transportation logistics.
• Coordinating and supervising staffing for before and after care options.
• Supervising all aspects of camper care; and alongside a team of professionals, supervising the physical and emotional well-being of all our campers and staff.

Summer Programs Director & ELC Family Engagement Coordinator
Position Overview: Shir Ami, a thriving reform temple in Newtown, PA, is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Early Learning Center Family Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of our Early Learning Center (ELC) and leading efforts to engage young families within the Shir Ami community. The Coordinator will manage and oversee various programs and events, including serving as the Summer Camp Director and Playcare Supervisor, and will play a key role in expanding young family engagement initiatives.
Support ELC Operations
Assist the ELC Director with daily operations, with a specific focus on planning and coordinating programs and events.
Oversee ELC specials, including music, gym, and Spanish, managing scheduling and program quality.
Plan and organize individual class and school-wide special events, including Hanukkah parties, graduations, and end-of-year celebrations.
In collaboration with clergy, manage weekly school Shabbat services
Serve as the Playcare Supervisor, overseeing staffing, scheduling, and daily operations of Playcare services.

Young Family Recruitment & Engagement
Lead efforts to recruit and engage young families within both the ELC and the broader Shir Ami community.
Represent Shir Ami at community events and outreach initiatives to promote the ELC and young family programs.
Develop and expand program offerings, including the ShirSprouts initiative, creating meaningful and engaging experiences that align with Jewish values.
Collaborate with the Shir Ami Religious School to create a seamless experience for families as they transition through different stages of engagement with the temple.
ELC Summer Programs Director
Lead and manage the ELC summer camp, including staffing, program development, event planning, and camper groupings.
Recruit, hire, and train seasonal staff, ensuring a high-quality camp experience for all participants.
Manage daily camp operations, including scheduling, programing, safety protocols, and parent communication.
Hours and Expectations:
During the school year, the Early Learning Center & Family Engagement Coordinator serves as the ELC Closer, with daily working hours from 10am to 6pm. Some weekend work, particularly on Sundays, may be required based on event and program needs, as well as community outreach efforts. Adjustments to the weekday work schedule will be made as needed to accommodate for such programs. Flexibility is essential to ensure the successful planning and execution of all responsibilities associated with this role.
