Ramah Berkshires is seeking a Program Assistant to help support the program office this summer. Program Assistants work to plan, coordinate, and lead programming for staff during “off time,” help manage camp’s supply requisition and purchasing system, and assist with logistics for special programming, trips, and visiting guests. Program Assistants will also provide support to the Program Manager, as well as to other areas of the summer program as needed, and serve as a creative resource to counselors for their daily programming needs.

Experience in camping, creativity, and organization is a must!

Compensation: $850-$1500 depending on age and experience. Opportunities exist for additional responsibilities and bonuses. Room and Board provided while in residence at Camp.

Community Care Team Member (Yoetz/Yoetzet)

Community Care Team Member (Yoetz/Yoetzet)

Position Purpose: The yoetz/et (community care team member) is a senior staff member who focuses on supporting the mental and social-emotional health of our chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff) in a residential summer camp setting. The yoetz/et serves as a central case manager, facilitating communication as needed between the tzevet (staff), camp leadership, medical staff, parents, and Director of Community Care. In addition, the yoetz/et functions as a coach and partner to rashei edah (unit heads) and tzevet (staff) in managing the MESSH needs of their campers. Our goal is to empower and encourage staff members to support their campers directly and to gain a sense of personal confidence, independence, and autonomy as they are emerging into adulthood.

Reports to: Director of Community Care

Responsibilities:
● A yoetz/et will be assigned to support a specific edah (age group) based on the needs of the edah (age group) and the strengths/experience of the yoetz/et. Assignments of yoetzim may change from one session to the next according to staffing needs.
● Support the rosh edah (unit head) and tzevet (staff) in their work with campers in collaboration with the Director of Community Care. This includes behavioral issues, moments of emotional regulation and anxiety, interpersonal/social issues, utilizing sensory supports and coping skills, and adjusting to the camp schedule and environment.
● Maintain regular communication with the rosh edah (unit head), tzevet (staff), parents, camp care team, medical team, and camp leadership.
● Collaborate with the chanichim’s (camper) home-based support team as needed; this includes parents/guardians, year-round mental health professionals, etc.
● Monitor and respond to emails and phone calls with camper families for your assigned edah (age group).
● Be present in assigned camp units throughout the day to support rashei edah (unit heads) and tzevet (staff) and observe campers who are in need of more support.
● Advise madrichim (bunk counselors) and specialists on how to accommodate camper needs in different activities as needed.
● Participate in the documentation of camp care issues, parent communications and camper interactions that take place during the summer.
● Facilitate community care meetings with assigned tzevet (staff) to review each chanich/a (camper). Discuss strategies to support the chanich/a’s success.
● Facilitate continuing staff training as needed and assigned.
● Assist with behind the scenes support as needed for camper success including laundry, food packing & distribution, and medical treatment accompaniment.
● Provide emotional support to tzevet (staff) as needed.

Compensation:
Camp care team members get paid $1675/session plus room and board in your own room with a shared bathroom in a beautiful setting. If you have camper-age kids, we discuss options for tuition credits. Travel to and from camp will be reimbursed.

Office Assistant

Office Assistant

The office serves as the welcoming face of camp. A smoothly run office translates to a smoothly run camp, with requests from camper parents, staff members, vendors, and many other stakeholders all due replies promptly and professionally. Be prepared to answer the phone, sort the mail, distribute camp supplies and messages, and fulfill a myriad of tasks that come through the office. Office staff members must be computer literate and knowledgeable in using word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. Individuals should be highly organized and proactive in anticipating camp needs. A sense of humor is a must!

Community Care Director

Community Care Director

This role is a seasonal summer full-time position, with part-time hours before summer session begins. During the summer session the position includes evening hours. The Community Care Director will report to the Executive Director and Director of Programming and Engagement.

The responsibilities of the Community Care Director include, but are not limited to:
Playing a leadership role in the planning and implementation of staff training in relation to mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health (MESSH);

  • Creating and implementing programming for small groups of campers focused on wellness and social-emotional learning.
  • Serving as a resource to campers throughout the summer in facing mental, emotional and social health challenges, and creating environments where campers can thrive.
  • Managing information about camper needs, and communicating those to staff, as well as documenting communication and plans.
  • Preparing reports to funding agencies in relationship to mental emotional and social health of Camp Massad, Manitoba and its campers, including sharing high-level understandings of interactions and interventions taking place throughout the summer.
  • Participate in Foundation for Jewish Camp’s Community of Practice as part of our camp’s place in the Yedid Nefesh program, including two or three virtual gatherings and one in-person gathering per year with other Jewish camp mental health professionals.
  • Be an active presence on-site at camp as a part of the community.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Tikvah Program Coordinator

Tikvah Program Coordinator

Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is an overnight camp located in Wingdale, New York serving campers entering 3rd grade through 11th grade. The mission of Ramah is to provide joyful Jewish experiences to our campers and staff.

We are looking for a hardworking, patient and enthusiastic adult to join our team. Tikvah is our overarching program that provides support to campers with disabilities. We have a self-contained disability support program for campers who have mild to moderate support needs. Our Breira B’ Ramah program is for campers with lower support needs who live in mainstream bunks.

We are looking for candidates who can commit to spending 8 weeks at Camp.

Salary scale begins at $4,000 based on relevant camp and professional experience. Tuition assistance is also available for staff children.

The Tikvah Program Coordinator will be supervised by the Director of Community Care and Inclusion.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the caseload of 15 – 20 campers with disabilities across camp
  • This may include developing behavior management plans and/or individualized schedules
  • Communicate with parents on a frequent basis
  • Train bunk counselors and provide coaching on an ongoing basis
  • Supervise the bunk counselors in Breira and Tikvah bunks
  • Facilitate ongoing staff meetings
  • Manage the day to day program for the Tikvah self-contained bunks
  • Collaborate with all staff around camp
  • Contribute to a culture of inclusivity and positivity at camp
  • Complete staff evaluations at the end of each session
  • Complete camper evaluations at the end of the summer
Nurse – Camp Seneca Lake – Summer 2025

Nurse – Camp Seneca Lake – Summer 2025

This nursing role is a seasonal, full-time position. The Nurse supports the health needs of the campers and staff working as a team with the other members of the Health Center. We seek Nurses who can commit to at least one week at a time, ideally several weeks at once or the entire summer session. We can be flexible! The position includes evening hours.

Inclusion/Kochavim Camp Counselor

Inclusion/Kochavim Camp Counselor

Lessans Camp JCC at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington is a place where every child in the greater Washington D.C. area — regardless of developmental ability — can experience the joys of summer camp.

This position in our day camp works with campers 1:1 or 1:2 and is responsible for the supervision and safety of campers and activities at Lessans Camp JCC. You can choose to work as an Inclusion Counselor or a Kochavim Counselor. Inclusion Counselors work 1:1 or 1:2 with campers ages 4-12 with disabilities, who need extra support in order to fully participate in camp. Kochavim Counselors are responsible for teens and young adults ages 12-21 with disabilities.

Supervision and Engagement
-Assist the aquatics staff during instructional swim and recreational swim with active supervision of your assigned Lessans camper(s)
-Actively participate in specialist-led activities by joining in, demonstrating enthusiasm, helping campers as needed, and ensuring everyone stays involved and on task.

Camper Care
-Collaborate with counselors, Inclusion Team, and the Health Room to manage camper’s health needs.
-Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers served, interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations, appropriately model behavior (enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control), and use positive behavior-management techniques.
-Creatively adapt and individualize activities to the specific needs of campers.
-Assist campers with changing into and out of swim clothing in the locker rooms.
-Implement behavior charts, visual schedules, etc. as needed, in coordination with Unit Leadership, Inclusion Team, Specialists, and Yoetzet.

Preparation, Planning, and Organization
-Combine efforts with other staff members to ensure programs and activities run smoothly.

Communication and Attendance
-Actively participate in arrival and dismissal procedures.
-Provide daily written communication with camper’s parents about campers’ daily progress and other pertinent information.
-Attend all required sessions, orientations, staff meetings, late stays, and trips planned for the group(s).
-Professionally communicate and collaborate with external providers supporting campers through other agencies.

Leadership and Professional Development
-Plan, direct, and supervise the specialty program area, including creating program curriculum for a range of ages and abilities.
-Mentor staff and campers about expected behavior in the specialty time and appropriate use of equipment.
-Work with Lessans Camp JCC Leadership to plan and implement camp -wide special events and activities.
-Delegate tasks to counselors, such as setting up equipment, managing transitions between activities, assisting with camper behavior, etc.

Supervision and Engagement
-Supervise and engage with all participants (ages 4-21) in programs and activities while under the position’s care.
-Substitute for absent counselors as needed and requested.

Camper Care
-Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers served, interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations, appropriately model behavior, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control and use positive behavior-management techniques.
-Work with the Adaptive Recreation Coordinator to ensure activities are accessible.

Preparation, Planning, and Organization
-Submit written activity plans, including two days of rainy day/absent plans & supplies lists to the Associate Camp Director.
-Meet with Associate Camp Director weekly.

Communication and Attendance
-Assist with arrival and dismissal as scheduled.

Head Nurse

Head Nurse

Why this role matters:

Lessans Camp JCC at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington is a place where every child in the greater Washington D.C. area — regardless of developmental ability — can experience the joys of summer camp.

Lessans Camp JCC is a day camp, and the Head Nurse is responsible for supervising the health room, nurse(s), and EMT as well as providing health care to all campers and staff within the guidelines of the Bender JCC of Greater Washington.

Core Responsibilities include:

-Provide healthcare to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers. Collaborate with other medical staff to meet medical needs.
-Supervise all other nurses and medical staff working within the health room.
-Follow healthcare policies and procedures as described in the standing orders and medical program.
-Review all medical policies with volunteer doctor and Camp Director to ensure licensing by county, state and American Camp Association (ACA). Comply with the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and ACA standards.
-Conduct a staff orientation session on medical, health, and safety services.
-Inventory and order all necessary medical supplies and equipment and set up the health room prior to the start of camp.
-Review camper and staff medical files prior to camp. Contact parents for specific follow-up questions.
-Keep all medications used by campers and staff.
-Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file.
-Prepare and utilize daily medical log for treatment and medications.
-Prepare and record insurance and incident report forms as required by the state and Bender JCC.
-Oversee first aid procedures and supplies. Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout camp including in camp vehicles, kitchens, offices, pools, activity areas, and out-of-camp trips.
-Observe and assess sanitation and safety conditions of the camp. Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp.
-Report any health problems or symptoms of illness to the Camp Director.
-Attend all orientation sessions and staff meetings.
