About Camp Judaea:
Camp Judaea is an overnight summer camp, located in Hendersonville, NC in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and serves campers ages 7-15. Our mission is to provide a safe, fun, nurturing community where children, teens, and young adults grow as individuals, build lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, and establish enduring connections with Judaism, Israel, and the natural environment. Our mental health professional will join a small, loving, and tight-knit community that prides itself on relationship-building, acceptance, and personal growth.

About the Position:
Camp Judaea is seeking a seasonal mental health or behavioral support professional for our first session of camp. This person will be a critical member of our Kehilah Care Team (KCT). Our mental health professional will provide social emotional support, resources, and training to campers and staff. Additionally, they will empower and mentor our youth staff in their roles as counselors.

Pre-Season:
Participate in KCT virtual trainings. 2-3 virtual sessions at mutually agreed upon times prior to camp to gather as a team and to plan and prepare for the summer.

Summer 2024:
Full time, residential on-site from May 26-July 3, 2024. Salary commensurate with experience, room and board provided.

Professional Responsibilities:
• Help create a positive camp environment for all campers and staff by promoting proactive wellness through supporting camper and staff mental health and wellbeing.
• Provide assessment and direct intervention in cases of mental health and/or behavioral crises in collaboration with the KCT, Director of Camper Experience, and Camp Director.
• Work with the other members of the KCT to design modifications to programs and activities to be inclusive of all campers.
• Respond to parent concerns related to campers with mental health and/or behavioral issues.
• Participate in meetings with camp leadership to ensure that camper and staff wellbeing are central to the operation of camp.
• Provide training and support to staff regarding their campers’ mental health and wellbeing
• Maintain required documentation for camper meetings, team meetings and other meetings as necessary.
• Mentor and support the other members of the KCT as needed
