Meet The Director

Ben Chaback

Ben’s journey with Camp Laurelwood began in Bunk 1, where his passion for camp first took root. Over the past 30+ years in the summer camp world, he’s taken on roles as a counselor, specialist, administrator, and camp director. With a background as both a camp director and school social worker, as well as holding a degree in school administration, Ben is excited to use his experiences alongside his team to create a camp environment where children can thrive, build confidence, and make unforgettable memories.

Ben’s mission is to ensure that camp is safe, fun and allows for campers to also experience personal growth, forming lifelong friendships, and learning new skills. He’s dedicated to creating a safe and vibrant space where campers can thrive, all while staying true to Jewish values. These values guide his approach to building a strong, inclusive community where every camper feels they truly belong.

Ben understands the trust families place in him, so he prioritizes clear and open communication. He takes pride in making the camp experience as smooth and worry-free for parents as it is fun and transformative for campers. Whether it’s answering questions before summer, sharing updates during the season, or staying connected long after camp ends, Ben is dedicated to ensuring that every family feels informed, connected, and confident that their children are in great care at Camp Laurelwood.
