Yitro Leadership Program
“The thing you are doing is not right; you will surely wear yourself out and these people as well. For the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone.”
–Exodus 18:18-19
Upon discovering that Moses, his son-in-law, had assumed leadership of the Israelites, Yitro imparted the invaluable advice above. This wisdom shared by Yitro with Moses holds true for all leaders, especially in our ever-changing world, where organizational operations grow in complexity and sophistication.
The Yitro Leadership Program is a strategic investment in a diverse network of high-potential full-time, year-round, professionals in middle manager roles at Jewish overnight camps. These talented individuals play pivotal roles in their camps, often as intermediaries, reporting to the Camp Director and supervising staff.
Designed to cultivate a dynamic cohort experience, the Yitro Leadership Program equips Fellows with the skills, confidence, and connections necessary to thrive in their roles and beyond.
The Yitro Leadership Program ensures that camp professionals do not navigate their leadership journey alone. To date, FJC has facilitated four cohorts of the Yitro Leadership Program, graduating 75 alumni who have made significant impact on the Jewish camp field and the broader Jewish community.
FJC is pleased to announce the launch of two upcoming Yitro Leadership Program cohorts:
Cohort V: May 2024 – February 2026
Cohort VI: May 2025 – February 2027

Becca Sykes
Becca Sykes offers dynamic coaching and workshops rooted in yoga, theater, and text-study that build experience in values-based learning. Her love of experiential education comes from decades at summer camps in North America, where it’s possible to build one’s creativity and connection while eating tater tots. With degrees in theater and music from Columbia University and JTS, she creates learning opportunities with the Foundation for Jewish Camp, the iCenter, Brandeis University, University of Chicago, the Jewish Education Project, and the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies. Rebecca explores middot (soul traits) to learn how the development of the soul affects the development of each day. Her work is described as engaging, energizing, and welcoming; there is learning at every level. Becca lives in Jerusalem where she teaches yoga, sings showtunes on stage and off, and eats hummus.
