Meet The Director

Mrs. Liba Leah Gurary

Liba Leah Gurary is a Chabad-Lubavitch shlucha (emissary) and community leader, known especially for her work alongside her husband in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been active in Jewish communal and educational life, particularly within the Hebrew-speaking Israeli community.

Family and Background:
She is the daughter of Rabbi Yossi New, a longtime Chabad rabbi in Georgia who served at Congregation Beth Tefillah.

Liba Leah is married to Rabbi Menachem (Mendy) Gurary.

Together they have six children.

Community Leadership & Activities:
She co-directs the Chabad Israeli Center in Atlanta with her husband. This center serves as a vibrant hub for Hebrew-speaking Jews and Israelis living in the Atlanta area, offering prayer services, classes in Hebrew, holiday programming, and social gatherings.

Under their leadership, the center expanded its facilities to include a shul (synagogue), classrooms, children’s play and youth spaces, a kosher kitchen, and a community social hall to better serve the local population.

Role as a Shlucha & Educator:
Liba Leah is involved in Jewish education and outreach — including work with children’s programs — and participates in broader Chabad-Lubavitch activities and conferences for women emissaries (Kinus Hashluchos), where she engages with and gains inspiration from other shluchos worldwide.

Public Profile:
She has been mentioned in community news as an active participant and leader in Chabad events. For example, she attended the international women emissaries’ conference multiple times, helping represent the Atlanta Jewish community and further her work as a shlucha.
