Hyman, Blanche, Rita and Norma Gurland Fund for Children with Needs Students

Through the Hyman, Blanche, Gladys, Rita and Norma Gurland Memorial Fund, the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland is able to offer grants to children with special needs.  These funds are available to first and second timers going to a variety of camps offering special programming to the campers.

For first and second time campers with special needs. Must be resident of Cleveland.

David and Inez Myers Foundation Camp Leadership Scholarship for Teens

This scholarship is to help students entering or in high school attend a Jewish summer overnight camp that offers leadership training.  Preference will be given to incoming 9th and 10th graders

Factors to be considered in awarding the scholarship are to include but are not limited to: financial need, demonstrated leadership potential, and an expressed desire to give back to the Jewish community as a result of this camp leadership experience. Grants will be allocated at an amount not to exceed $500 per grant.

The JCL provides scholarship for families requesting financial assistance for overnight camping experiences. A variety of funds in the JCL’s Foundation for Planned Giving and grants generously make funds available. A few funds are designated for specific camps while the majority are available for any FJC approved camp.

Northern California is blessed with a diversity of Jewish overnight camps, each one with its own unique flavor and offerings. Visit the Camp Collective hub to learn more about each of our six camps and the resources available to help make camp a reality.

The Federation’s overnight camp scholarship funding goes directly to the six Northern California camps to pool with their own scholarship dollars. Contact your camp to apply for financial assistance, or for first-time campers, check out One Happy Camper for information about incentive grants up to $1,000. The Federation no longer provides individual scholarships for camps outside the region – contact your camp directly to inquire about financial assistance.

Scholarship funds are provided with support from the Albert and Janet Schultz Overnight Campership Fund, the Bentkowsky Campership Fund, the Bernard Hurwitz and Ethel Adler Hurwitz Summer Camperships Fund, the Newhouse Fund, and other generous donors to the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund.
