Ramah Day Camp of Greater Boston is seeking an energetic, organized, and creative leader to serve as our year-round Assistant Director—a new and exciting position on our team.

In this key role, you’ll help recruit and retain the next generation of campers and staff, build meaningful relationships with families across Greater Boston, and design unforgettable summer experiences for over 400 campers and staff members.

At Ramah, we create transformative experiences of joyful Jewish life. Campers entering pre-K through ninth grade make great friends, grow socially and spiritually, and have endless fun through sports, swimming, arts, music, cookouts, and more—all in a warm, nurturing environment rooted in Jewish values.

This role is perfect for someone eager to develop professionally in program design, staff training, recruitment, and camp operations. Whether you come from the Jewish nonprofit world or beyond, you bring strong leadership, relationship-building skills, and a passion for Jewish camping.

Ramah Boston is part of Ramah New England, a dynamic and inclusive network of two day camps and one overnight camp, serving hundreds of children and families across the region.

The Assistant Director works year-round in Norwood, MA (off-season) and on-site in Waltham, MA during the summer. Our team meets in person Monday–Thursday and works remotely on Fridays.

Compensation

$45,000-55,000

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring a mix of professional experience, personal warmth, and a passion for Jewish camping. We recognize that great candidates come from diverse professional backgrounds, and we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification listed below.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience in areas such as education, informal Jewish education, youth engagement, camp management, or program administration.
• Demonstrated summer leadership experience at a day camp or an overnight camp.

• Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine ability to connect and build relationships with families, staff, and colleagues.

• Strong writing and editing skills for family communications, marketing materials, and website content.

• A collaborative and flexible work style—someone who takes initiative, works well independently, and enjoys being part of a dynamic team.

• Commitment to the mission, values, and joy of Jewish camping and experiential education.

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience working in summer camping, youth programs, or Jewish communal organizations.

• Knowledge of Boston-area Jewish institutions, schools, and synagogues.
• Background or comfort in program design, event planning, or logistics coordination.

• Ability to think creatively and problem-solve with both empathy and efficiency.

• Familiarity with Hebrew or Israeli culture is a plus but not required.

• Comfort with technology, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database systems (experience with CampMinder, Constant Contact, or similar platforms preferred).
