CIT Program Counselors

Camp Gilboa

Description

Being a CIT Program Counselor (or other leadership) requires:
– Passion and commitment to Gilboa and a willingness to channel that into the work that’s required
– Both big picture and detail oriented thinking
– Ability to develop vision, goals and implementation plans, and follow through on them
– Ability to foster positive relationships with CITs and guide CITs in a positive way
– Composure in high stress situations and a flexible mindset and ability to improvise
– Ability to work over a prolonged period and contribute to a cohesive team
– Commitment to follow through and communicate on long term projects (February through August)
– Initiative and stamina throughout a long term process
– Commitment to self-reflection, evaluation and feedback
– Communication skills with the rest of the counselor and senior leadership staff
– Communication skills between the CITs and counselors
– Willingness and drive to form connections with the rest of the counselors (the CIT program is a separate part of camp in a lot of ways and can feel isolating)
– Awareness of the fact that CITs are still campers and need care, personal hadracha, and support
Commitment to work with Senior Leadership to develop a program that would best serve the needs of the CITs as individuals and the future leadership of Gilboa
-CIT Counselors are also responsible for helping the CITs run intersession programming for the campers

Requirements

Responsibilities to Madatz: -First and foremost, CIT Counselors are responsible for planning and facilitating a safe, educational, and fun process for the CITS in order to develop hadracha and education skills that will adequately prepare them to be counselors and movement educators. CIT Counselors are also responsible for guiding the CITS to begin to take ownership over their kvutza process and continue their kvutza process post-madatz and onto staff. Responsibilities to Staff: CIT Counselors are an active part of the larger staff body and process, and part of camp’s leadership, and are expected to take on a leadership role in planning, supporting the functions of camp, supporting staff, and being a dugma to tzevet. CIT Counselors are part of pre-summer meetings, summer meetings, help plan evening activities, and are encouraged to run electives and sadnaot. CIT Counselors should participate in all camp-wide activities (special days, evening activities, etc.) if possible. CIT Counselors are expected to facilitate communication and partnership building between the CITs and Counselors including feedback, peulot, and chevratim.
