Description
Position Purpose: The yoetz/et (community care team member) is a senior staff member who focuses on supporting the mental and social-emotional health of our chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff) in a residential summer camp setting. The yoetz/et serves as a central case manager, facilitating communication as needed between the tzevet (staff), camp leadership, medical staff, parents, and Director of Community Care. In addition, the yoetz/et functions as a coach and partner to rashei edah (unit heads) and tzevet (staff) in managing the MESSH needs of their campers. Our goal is to empower and encourage staff members to support their campers directly and to gain a sense of personal confidence, independence, and autonomy as they are emerging into adulthood.
Reports to: Director of Community Care
Responsibilities:
β A yoetz/et will be assigned to support a specific edah (age group) based on the needs of the edah (age group) and the strengths/experience of the yoetz/et. Assignments of yoetzim may change from one session to the next according to staffing needs.
β Support the rosh edah (unit head) and tzevet (staff) in their work with campers in collaboration with the Director of Community Care. This includes behavioral issues, moments of emotional regulation and anxiety, interpersonal/social issues, utilizing sensory supports and coping skills, and adjusting to the camp schedule and environment.
β Maintain regular communication with the rosh edah (unit head), tzevet (staff), parents, camp care team, medical team, and camp leadership.
β Collaborate with the chanichimβs (camper) home-based support team as needed; this includes parents/guardians, year-round mental health professionals, etc.
β Monitor and respond to emails and phone calls with camper families for your assigned edah (age group).
β Be present in assigned camp units throughout the day to support rashei edah (unit heads) and tzevet (staff) and observe campers who are in need of more support.
β Advise madrichim (bunk counselors) and specialists on how to accommodate camper needs in different activities as needed.
β Participate in the documentation of camp care issues, parent communications and camper interactions that take place during the summer.
β Facilitate community care meetings with assigned tzevet (staff) to review each chanich/a (camper). Discuss strategies to support the chanich/aβs success.
β Facilitate continuing staff training as needed and assigned.
β Assist with behind the scenes support as needed for camper success including laundry, food packing & distribution, and medical treatment accompaniment.
β Provide emotional support to tzevet (staff) as needed.
Compensation:
Camp care team members get paid $1675/session plus room and board in your own room with a shared bathroom in a beautiful setting. If you have camper-age kids, we discuss options for tuition credits. Travel to and from camp will be reimbursed.
