Role Summary Ramah Darom seeks a Director of Development & Board Relations who is a highly motivated, mission-driven and a proven strategic fundraiser to join the organization’s Leadership Team. Ambitious and entrepreneurial, the Director of Development will have the opportunity to continue elevating philanthropy among current donors and building a pipeline of the next generation of major donors, including but not limited to camp and retreat alumni, parents, grandparents, community leaders and foundations.
We are seeking candidates who are motivated to build upon a strong culture of giving – responsible for planning and implementing all fundraising strategies and activities for the organization. This includes overseeing our annual fund (currently $1.5M), capital campaigns, major and planned gifts, endowment growth, grant writing, and the engagement of long-time and current donors to motivate philanthropic support. The Director of Development will report to the CEO, and work closely with the Board of Directors. The candidate will be relied upon to strategically engage professional and lay leadership in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors. This individual will play a key role in governance and board management.

The Director of Development will have a strong background in systems, processes and technology to maximize opportunities to identify and cultivate the next generation of major funders. This individual will continue to increase Legacy giving and alumni engagement. The ideal candidate will have high emotional intelligence coupled with strong fundraising and managerial skills and an appreciation for and a love of Jewish camping and immersive experiences. They will be a stellar communicator and collaborator and be able to articulate the vision and values of Ramah Darom to internal and external stakeholders. Lastly, the Director of Development will have experience working in small and nimble organizations and an enthusiasm to take on additional roles and tasks as a member of a lean and collaborative management team.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Set Organization-Wide Development Strategy:
    o Develop and implement short and long-term development plans to meet established fundraising goals and objectives.
    o Be an active player in the organization’s Leadership Team and participate in high-level decisions.
    o Define strategies and priorities for different donor constituency groups including and not limited to camp and retreat participants, parents, alumni, grandparents and community funders.
    o Manage and collaborate with Board and professional leadership on engagement of donors including cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Oversee Annual Fund & Capital Campaign:
    o Oversee continuous growth and management of the annual fund.
    o Strategize and create appeals and maintain an annual calendar of solicitations for giving through the annual campaign.
    o Work with Leadership Team to develop marketing and messaging strategies.
    o Manage all aspects of Capital Campaigns including and not limited to the development of solicitation strategies, preparation of solicitations, proposal creation.
    o Prepare regular reports to Board of Directors on Campaign progress.
    o Work with consultants and architects on donor recognition, as appropriate.
    o Work with the Finance Manager on gift entry processes and acknowledgment letter management.
  • Solicit Major Gifts & Grow Endowment:
    o Proactively communicate with donors, steward prospects, solicit gifts, and build relationships.
    o Identify and qualify pipeline of major donors.
    o Oversee growth of Ramah Darom Endowment
  • Manage Grants:
    o Manage all aspects of the process; strategize on approach, track opportunities, manage timelines and provide follow-up, including all reporting functions.
    o Explore and implement strategies to optimize grant research including the development of online resources, joining organizations to assist with identifying prospects, and networking.
    o Draft and edit proposals and work with senior professional staff to create program budgets for proposals and applications.
  • Support Board Management & Relations: o Together with CEO act as Board Liaison o Professional liaison to Board lay Development Committee. o Prepare all materials for board meetings, board orientation and board surveys.

Community Care Team: Mental Health Professional

Community Care Team: Mental Health Professional

Our Community Care Team is comprised of Mental Health professionals who support all matters related to mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health (MESSH) in camp. This can include one on one sessions, facilitated group discussions, programs to promote mental health awareness, staff training, and more.
Camp Barney Medintz, the summer overnight camp of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, is located on 540 beautiful acres in the north Georgia mountains, just 75 miles from Atlanta. Founded in 1963, “Camp Barney” serves more than 1200 children, ages 8-17, and more than 300 staff from the United States and several other countries each summer.
We are seeking members of our seasonal MESSH team who have experience working with children and/or young adults, understand the duties and responsibilities associated with being a mental health professional, are effective in case management, and possess a desire to approach mental health in an accessible way.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serving as a resource to campers and staff throughout the summer who are facing mental, emotional, social, or spiritual challenges and creating environments where campers can thrive
• Creating and facilitating training for staff surrounding prevalent mental health topics to be prepared to encounter
• Managing information about camper needs, and communicating to proper staff members
• Documentation in Campminder
• Developing and maintaining relationships with parents, caregivers, and relevant outside professionals
• Work with leadership on evaluation and tracking for camper wellness
• Be an active presence, living on-site and participating in community programs at camp

Date Range: Flexible within June 8, 2025 – August 1, 2025
