Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is an overnight camp located in Wingdale, New York serving campers entering 3rd grade through 11th grade. The mission of Ramah is to provide joyful Jewish experiences to our campers and staff.

We are looking for a hardworking, patient and enthusiastic adult to join our team. Tikvah is our overarching program that provides support to campers with disabilities. We have a self-contained disability support program for campers who have mild to moderate support needs. Our Breira B’ Ramah program is for campers with lower support needs who live in mainstream bunks.

We are looking for candidates who can commit to spending 8 weeks at Camp.

Salary scale begins at $4,000 based on relevant camp and professional experience. Tuition assistance is also available for staff children.

The Tikvah Program Coordinator will be supervised by the Director of Community Care and Inclusion.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the caseload of 15 – 20 campers with disabilities across camp
  • This may include developing behavior management plans and/or individualized schedules
  • Communicate with parents on a frequent basis
  • Train bunk counselors and provide coaching on an ongoing basis
  • Supervise the bunk counselors in Breira and Tikvah bunks
  • Facilitate ongoing staff meetings
  • Manage the day to day program for the Tikvah self-contained bunks
  • Collaborate with all staff around camp
  • Contribute to a culture of inclusivity and positivity at camp

NCDC operates M-F, 8am-5pm, and provides transportation for staff and campers to and from our campgrounds on Staten Island via multiple locations throughout Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. NCDC is a neurodiverse camp community, and all staff members are responsible for supporting neurodivergent and neurotypical campers and staff to have successful summers.

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations of New Country Day Camp, the Aquatics Coordinator will be responsible for supervising all day-to-day functions of the swim program, working with Division Supervisors to address all parent concerns regarding the swim program, creating and maintaining appropriately leveled swim sections for campers, and other division related needs as assigned. The Aquatics Coordinator acts as the liaison between NCDC leadership and campground Aquatics staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Program Coordination

  • In collaboration with leadership, update and facilitate Aquatics trainings for staff orientation in June
  • Create camper rosters for first day swim evaluations
  • Create and coordinate plans for first day swim evaluations
  • Oversee swim section grouping process for 800+ campers according to swim level and age division
  • Oversee organization of camper swim cards to be used as assessment tools during instructional periods
  • Create swim rosters and work with Division Staff to communicate changes in camper swim sections/levels daily
  • Keep an updated inventory of swim caps and cards for all levels
  • Create and enforce a counselor supervision schedule, ensuring all campers in the pool complex have adequate supervision

Communication

  • Work with Division Supervisors to swiftly address all family communications between swim staff and families during the camp season
  • Share daily updates on the number of campers in each pool section with the HKC Aquatics Director to ensure appropriate lifeguard coverage during instructional periods
  • Inform appropriate HCK staff of all camper swim level changes daily
  • Work with leadership team to communicate any programmatic adjustments to HKC Aquatics Director as needed
  • Work with Division Team to proactively communicate camper swim progress on a daily/weekly basis

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Maintain and exhibit a role of leadership at all times as a member of NCDC’s Key Staff
  • Be present at all days of orientation, camp and staff meetings during the camp season
  • Proactively problem solve and motivate colleagues as difficult moments present themselves throughout the camp season; encourage flexibility and understanding as means to achieve common goals

New Country Day Camp is an 8-week, outdoor summer camp for campers in kindergarten – 8th grade. NCDC operates M – F, 8:00am – 5:00pm, and provides transportation for staff and campers to and from our campgrounds on Staten Island via multiple locations throughout Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. NCDC is a neurodiverse camp community, and all staff members are responsible for supporting neurodivergent and neurotypical campers and staff to have successful summers.

The Outdoor Education Program Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing high-quality outdoor programming for New Country Day Camp. Campers in this unit will plant and maintain the NCDC garden, prepare simple foods with what they’ve grown, and learn how to navigate the natural world around them. The Outdoor Education specialist is also responsible for doing some pre-camp work to prepare the garden for the campers’ arrival.

Program Specialists are passionate about teaching their area of expertise in an informal, outdoor, educational setting. They teach multiple groups of K – 8th grade campers daily, for 30 – 60-minute program blocks each.

JOB PURPOSE
Division Supervisors will be responsible for the overall well-being of approximately 100+ campers at a time within a given age group at New Country Day Camp, which serves a population of campers entering K-8. They will also be responsible for ongoing communication with the families of their assigned age group and the supervision of the counselors within their assigned age division.

SCOPE OF INFLUENCE
• Direct client group: Campers (K-8th Grade; Age assignment TBD)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Camper Care
• Be responsible for the overall well-being of approximately 100+ campers and 20+ counselors at a time, including but not limited to physical and emotional needs
• Maintain organized systems and records of camper and staff attendance, injuries, accidents, and other important information
• Learn, understand, and promote camp’s mission and values (Personal Growth and Responsibility, Empathy, Respect, Passion), including our Open Tent philosophy of inclusion
• Consult with leadership staff to plan and execute special weekly division-wide programming
• Be present at the pool complex for swim periods and support Swim Coordinator
Logistics and Communications
• Attend pre-camp meetings with families and/or staff as needed
• Ensure staff/campers follow their daily schedule, guaranteeing each camp day runs smoothly
• Communicate with parents as needed through the camp season, including being available via email and cell phone until 6:30pm nightly
• Work with Community Engagement Manager to compile weekly division emails to families with pictures and program updates
• Write weekly emails to staff detailing important information for the week ahead, with an emphasis on boosting morale and maintaining a positive staff culture
• Communicate and effectively partner as needed with Support Supervisors, Aquatics staff, Program staff, and NCDC leadership regarding camper needs and concerns
• With Operations Manager, order supplies for division and maintain an organized inventory and balanced budget
• Be responsible for overall cleanliness and organization of division shelter and surrounding area

• As a member of the NCDC Supervisory Staff, model professional behavior for campers and other staff at all times

Role Overview:
Ramah Berkshires Director of Operations (DO) is a senior level, full-time, year-round position overseeing the facilities, operations, security, and IT of the organization. The DO supervises the Facilities staff as well as the Food Service, and Maintenance teams during the summer. The DO is a key strategic partner to the Director and senior year-round and summer leadership teams in the leadership of Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. This role requires a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented leader who can create a positive environment for staff, campers, and families.

The DO will guide the organization’s operations functions, including HR, facilities, and IT. Within operations, the DO will oversee operations associated with facilities, travel, commissary, security, and risk management.

This role is suited for an existing high-level professional with camp and/or business experience, as well as operational know-how. The appropriate candidate will demonstrate a commitment to building the type of year-round and lifelong interpersonal relationships and holistic Jewish community that are essential to Ramah Berkshires mission.

Location: September to May: Hybrid (3 days a week in the office) in Teaneck, NJ
June-August: Full-Time in Wingdale, NY

What You’ll Do:

Camp Operations
-Manage day-to-day summer operations, including Business Office, transportation, commissary, security, and housekeeping.
-Hire and supervise seasonal and year-round staff including: commissary, maintenance, facilities, and housekeeping.
-Oversee technology and manage outsourced IT services; implement technology upgrades as needed.
-Responsibility for establishing policies and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and accrediting bodies.
-Supervise all security matters for camp, including the security plans, security systems, and security grants.
-Serve as the lead administrator for our CRM (Campminder) and assist in the tracking, collecting, and compiling of relevant information.
-Foster a positive camp culture by promoting teamwork, open communication, and problem-solving.
-Monitor inventory and manage the purchasing of necessary supplies (e.g., food, equipment, and camp materials).

Facilities:
-Ensure the safe and ongoing operation at organization facilities in Teaneck, NJ and Wingdale, NY.
-Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with facilities vendors.
-Oversee facility improvement and building projects.
-Professional lead for lay Facilities Committee of the Board of Directors.

Strategic Direction
-Maintain, modify, and implement personnel policies and procedures; update employee handbook as needed and ensure staff adheres to employee handbook policies. Stay abreast of and comply with changing federal, State, and local employment laws.
-Develop, maintain, and implement strategic and operational plans to achieve long-term success and growth of the organization.
-Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations concerning camp operations, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Salary and Benefits:
-Base Salary range of $85,000-$105,000
-Generous PTO: 10 days personal vacation. 5 days off post camp. The office is closed all of Pesach, Christmas through New Years, as well as the Jewish and secular holidays.

We are currently looking for a candidate to join our Community Care team. This person will be responsible for working on mental, emotional, and social health issues with our incredible staff. The Staff Care Manager is expected to provide our community with meaningful guidance to make healthy, responsible, and respectful choices. The Staff Care Manager embodies Sprout Camp’s core values in their interactions and decisions regarding community care and is a positive, contributing member of the summer leadership team. The Staff Care Manager is expected to create strong relationships with the camp community and exhibit excellent communication skills.

This position requires a person with a variety of skills and the ability to transition from one situation to another quickly and intuitively while also showing compassion and empathy for campers and staff. 1. Serve as the lead professional in determining appropriate responses to all issues related to social, emotional, and mental health, safety, and well-being of staff

4. Communicate with Director, Assistant Director, and Infirmary to monitor and support the physical, social, and emotional health, safety, and well-being of staff
5. Assist with challenging staff situations and provide ongoing support to respond to staff’s behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs
6. Consult with Director and Assistant Director about significant concerns and issues that arise to determine appropriate response for staff
7. Observe and document staff situations/incidents, design behavior intervention and/or management plans, and monitor and report on progress
8. Facilitate group cohort sessions for all staff, creating a supportive environment to help staff navigate difficult situations and promote further learning
9. Perform other related duties as assigned by Camp Director
