Day Camp Unit Head

OSRUI is seeking a unit head for Chaverim, our day camp unit, which consists of the children of our onsite faculty and staff members who are not yet old enough to be overnight campers. This person will oversee and is responsible for all activities within their unit. They are the direct supervisor of all staff in their unit and aware of all aspects of the unit. Unit heads report to a member of the year-round team with whom they meet on a regular basis.

Great Outdoors Specialist

OSRUI is seeking a specialist to develop a curriculum and lead our Great Outdoors intensive program for middle school-aged campers. Campers in this intensive will spend lots of time outside at camp enjoying and exploring all of our nature, sports, and aquatic activities. Each week will have a different focus and the experience will culminate in planning an outdoor adventure experience for the rest of their unit.

Aquatics Director

Aquatics Director

OSRUI is seeking an Aquatics Director for the summer. This person will report to the Camp Director, and will perform the following functions:
1. Plan, direct, and supervise a safe and fun aquatics program
– Write (with the help of aquatics specialists) lesson plans that meet camp goals.
– Evaluate aquatics abilities of campers and staff.
– Deliver creative swim and watercraft program activities.

2. Train and supervise waterfront staff
– Assist in the planning and implementation of staff training.
– Train waterfront and counseling staff in their responsibilities.
– Supervise aquatics staff to provide a safe and high-quality program.
– Supervise the aquatics staff evaluation process.
– Implement the scheduling of aquatics staff at both the lake and the pool.

3. Manage the physical facilities and equipment in the aquatics program areas
– Set up aquatics program areas prior to and during staff training.
– Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.
– Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety.
– Check equipment, and make (or file for) repairs.
– Conduct a daily check of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
– Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
– Survey aquatics program areas daily, and keep the areas free of hazards and debris.

4. Participate as a member of the camp management team to plan, direct, and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions
– Work with the year-round team and Aquatics Specialists to develop a program curriculum.
– Assist in the planning of any special events at or near the aquatics program areas.
– Participate in management and staff meetings.
– Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.

Specialists (Nature, Drama, Music)

Specialists (Nature, Drama, Music)

OSRUI is seeking specialists in the areas of nature, drama, and music. They will work in conjunction with the programs of each camper unit. College-aged specialists generally sleep in a bunk with campers and are expected to split their time between their specialty and being with the campers in their eidah (unit). Specialists with professional experience live in staff housing.
