Are you passionate about creating meaningful connections to Israel and Jewish traditions for young people? Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake is seeking an enthusiastic Education Specialist focused on Israel and Jewish education. This role is a unique opportunity to design and lead engaging programs centered around Israel’s culture and Jewish values, helping our campers and staff build a lasting relationship with their heritage.

Position Overview

As the Education Specialist, you will play a vital role in shaping campers’ understanding of Israel and Judaism. You’ll develop and lead innovative educational programs that explore themes of Jewish life, culture, and history, as well as mentor counselors to create and deliver their own activities. Additionally, you’ll help plan and facilitate Shabbat programming that brings the camp community together in celebration. Our summer dates are June 18th-August 18th.

Responsibilities

Program Design & Implementation
Develop and lead Israel and Jewish education programs that inspire curiosity and foster connection, including lessons, discussions, and creative activities on topics like Israeli culture, Jewish values, and historical themes.
Run these programs for campers of various age groups, ensuring they are interactive, age-appropriate, and memorable.
Staff Collaboration & Program Support
Collaborate with counselors to help them design and implement their own Israel and Jewish education activities, providing guidance on content, structure, and engagement techniques.
Integrate Israel and Jewish education themes into broader camp programming to create a cohesive learning environment.
Shabbat Programming
Plan and facilitate Shabbat experiences, including services, rituals, and activities that foster a sense of community, reflection, and celebration.
Engage campers and staff in a way that makes Shabbat a meaningful part of camp life, accommodating a range of observance levels and backgrounds.
Community Engagement
Actively participate in the camp community, collaborating with fellow staff and leadership to create a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere.
Serve as a resource for campers and counselors on topics related to Israel and Jewish life, fostering a culture of open dialogue and learning.
Qualifications

Experience in curriculum development, program facilitation, and/or Shabbat or Jewish ritual planning.
Strong knowledge of Israeli culture, Jewish history, and Jewish traditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor others.
Experience working with youth in a camp or educational setting is a plus.

Camper Care Coordinator

Camper Care Coordinator

As the Camper Care Coordinator, you will be a key resource for campers, ensuring their emotional and mental well-being throughout their camp experience. Working closely with the Camp Director and leadership team, you will provide guidance, support, and interventions to help campers navigate social challenges, emotional struggles, and behavioral needs.

This role is perfect for a compassionate and skilled professional who enjoys working directly with children, problem-solving in the moment, and creating an environment where every camper feels valued, heard, and empowered.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be the go-to support person for campers experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Assess and respond to camper needs, providing individual support, conflict resolution, and behavior interventions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with staff, guiding them on best practices for camper care and offering strategies for effective communication and positive reinforcement.
  • Communicate with parents, when needed, to provide updates, share concerns, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with staff training on mental, emotional, and social health (MESH) topics to help them better support campers.
  • Keep documentation and observations to monitor camper progress and inform interventions.
    Be a role model for empathy, inclusivity, and respect within the camp community.
