Essential Job Functions
• Oversee the development of an engaging and creative Hebrew curriculum that accounts for varying proficiencies and different age levels prior to camp
• Guide staff in the implementation of Hebrew education so that each staff member feels competent in their assigned teaching role
• Prepare materials and instructions so that multiple Hebrew groups can run simultaneously
• Prepare and organize content for the Hebrew immersion program for rising 10th graders in partnership with Chalutzim faculty
• Oversee daily Chalutzim prep hour
• Create art for the dining hall for Shabbat dinner
• Expand the presence of Hebrew visually throughout camp – Hiddur Ivrit
• Champion the use of non-translatable Hebrew words throughout camp
• Coordinate with madrichim and rashei eidot on the execution of the Hebrew program in each eidah
• Support the mishlachat in developing Erev Yisrael and Yom Yisrael programming
• Attend leadership meetings as required
• Ensure the preparation and submission of required materials for your area each week, including supply requisitions, lesson plans, and rain plans for all activities

Garden/Petting

Garden/Petting Zoo Head

This person is responsible for the overall supervision of maintenance and activities within our camp's garden and petting zoo areas with the aim of providing a healthy, safe, and fun camp environment. OSRUI specialists exhibit strong leadership skills and are creative in planning and implementing programs and activities for campers.

Responsibilities:
• Develop gan (garden) and refet (petting zoo) programs that engages campers in gardening, farming, animal care, and environmental stewardship
• Engage campers in the art and science of gardening, including the cultivation and harvesting of fruits, vegetables, and flowers throughout the summer, maintenance and beautification of the garden, and implementing engaging programming for up to 6 different groups of campers daily
• Plan and implement 45-minute animal encounter experiences for up to 6 groups of campers daily
• Ensure appropriate care for farm animals and support campers in feeding, grooming, and cleaning their living environment
• Maintain a functioning garden and healthy animal enclosure outside of program hours
• Prepare and submit required materials for your area each week, including supply requisitions, lesson plans, and rain plans for all activities
• Coordinate with madrichim and rashei eidot on the execution of the gan and refet program
• Supervise and engage Avodah interns as appropriate
• Engage in leadership meetings with the Camp Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Directors as requested
• Be an advocate for camp-wide policy

Cooking instructor

This person is responsible for the overall supervision of staff and campers in cooking activities and electives with the aim of providing a healthy, safe, and fun camp environment. OSRUI specialists exhibit strong leadership skills and are creative in planning and implementing programs and activities for campers.

Essential Job Functions
• Direct, supervise, and organize content of the cooking program.
o Oversee and execute the planning, preparation, and implementation of all cooking programs; serve as the creative force for your programs
o Develop and implement program activities for campers that are consistent with the mission of OSRUI and teach staff how to help implement such programs.
o Determine which specific activities will run for each program and activity, and be prepared with materials and instructions to run multiple activities simultaneously.
o Create a progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities.
• Direct, supervise, and organize specialists and counselors working in the specific area.
o Be a positive role model and resource for staff. Celebrate successes.
o Ensure proper supervision of area staff specialists and interns at all times.
o Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and return of all equipment in the kitchen.
o Provide regular check-ins and evaluations of staff, providing positive and constructive feedback.
o Coach staff in the effective implementation of programming. Address questions and support staff in managing challenges
• Direct, supervise, and organize campers during activities alongside counselors.
o Apply youth development principles in working with campers through appropriate communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
o Ensure proper supervision of campers at all times in coordination with area specialists and counselors.
o Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
o Manage all site and supply arrangements, including having a clean and organized kitchen.
o Be alert to campers’ and staff needs, assist them with personal and/or health problems, and alert the unit head, camp health center staff and/or Camp Director when appropriate.
o Promote emotional safety for campers and staff by maintaining an environment of encouragement and respect.
o Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper utilization, care, and maintenance; report necessary repairs promptly.
o Work closely with the programming team and your direct supervisor.
o Set a good example for campers, staff, and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, daily schedule, and sportsmanship.
• Coordinate with the summer leadership team.
o Support the full-time team, leadership team, and staff with programs, decisions, and responsibilities.
o Coordinate activities of all groups participating in cooking activities at a given time: allocation of space, staff, etc.
o Coordinate with counselors and unit heads on the execution of programs for your specialty
o Ensure the preparation and submission of required materials for your area each week, including supply requisitions and lesson plans for all activities.

Nanny

Nanny

Our Associate Director is seeking a nanny for his sweet, smiley, playful daughter. At the start of camp, his daughter will be 17 months old. This position is paid, plus you will receive room and board and access to all the wonderful facilities at camp, including the pool! Applicants should be interested in living at camp over the summer for a minimum of four weeks and up to ten weeks. A passion for camp and an interest in caring for kids would make you the perfect fit!
