Project Management & Decision-Making Workshop Resources
Project Management & Decision-Making workshop facilitated by Jessica Eastman Stewart:
- Slides: Download the PDF.
- MOCHA—If you need a tool to clarify responsibilities (and who needs to be consulted, who’s expected to help, who needs to approve, etc.), MOCHA is a great tool. Here’s a great resource describing how to use it.
- Appreciation at Work Toolkit (it’s free) has session plans, printables, an editable slide deck, and more to help teams who want to do appreciation better. www.jessicaeastmanstewart.com/appreciation
- Goals Bank – when it comes to defining success, don’t overcomplicate. How would you describe success to a 1o-year-old who was asking about your work? That might be all that you need. The Management Center’s Goals Bank is an awesome resource for this anytime you’re setting goals.
- Checklists – The Checklist Manifesto is a great book on this topic, but a lot of the concepts are well-captured in this much-shorter article. It makes a great discussion piece with teams followed by a conversation about what kinds of checklists might be valuable for your specific team’s work.
- Project List: In 1:1 convos I had with many of you during lunch, the break, and after the session, you mentioned the challenge of managing many projects at the same time. Tiago Forte discusses the value of creating a Project List for yourself that thas all of your projects in one place, and this blog is a great resource on how to do that.
- Is Project Management Software a Good Idea for Your Team? Here’s a 2-min video on my thoughts.
- Asana – I do quite a lot of bespoke Asana workshops for teams at different stages of adopting the tool, so if you’re using it and would find any of these tips videos I’ve made helpful, please check them out! I also made this tool a few weeks ago for a client, and you are welcome to copy and use. Earlier this year, folks in my group program asked me just to show them “what Asana is” for a few that were considering a tool like it, so if you’re not familiar with it and want to see me show my screen, this 2 minutes might be more helpful for you.
- Slack Norms – Many of you were interested, so here’s a sample set of Slack Norms. Feel free to copy, modify, and use as your own.
- Reminders App: We discussed this as a tool to capture things to do and remember when you’re out and about, during camp weeks, etc. Here’s how I use the iPhone reminders app myself (it’s a collection of a few Instagram stories with examples and answers to Qs I’ve gotten).
