Matt Levitt, Chief Operating Officer
NEW YORK — Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) announced today the appointment of Matt Levitt as chief operating officer, effective November 1, 2026. Levitt’s promotion from vice president of finance and operations to the newly created role rounds out the organization’s leadership team as it implements its 2026–2030 Strategic Direction to expand access to exceptional Jewish camp experiences and strengthen camps across North America.
“As FJC grows, investing in our people and systems is essential to delivering on our vision,” said Jamie Simon, CEO of Foundation for Jewish Camp. “Matt brings a deep understanding of FJC and the field, strong financial and operational leadership, and a real commitment to our team and mission. I trust his judgment and value his ability to work across teams and turn big ideas into practical plans. His leadership will help us grow sustainably and ensure our team has what it needs to do its best work..”
As COO, Levitt will oversee FJC’s finance, operations and human resources departments, as well as organizational risk and legal matters. He will strengthen alignment and accountability and ensure FJC’s internal systems support its strategy and staff.
Before joining FJC, Levitt served as grants and compliance officer for the Zarrow Family Foundations in Tulsa, Oklahoma, overseeing grant management systems, data analytics and financial compliance for more than $35 million in annual grantmaking. He previously spent a decade at Ramah in the Rockies, concluding his tenure as chief operating officer in 2021. Levitt holds a bachelor’s degree in Jewish studies from Indiana University and an MBA, with a graduate certificate in nonprofit management, from Oklahoma State University.
“This is an exciting moment for Jewish camp, and as our work grows, our financial planning, operations and support for staff need to grow with it,” said Matt Levitt, chief operating officer at Foundation for Jewish Camp. “I look forward to working with Jamie and colleagues across FJC to make sure our teams have clear priorities, the resources to deliver on them and systems that make it easier to work together.”
FJC’s leadership team also includes Liz Buetow, vice president of human resources, people and culture; Julie Finkelstein, vice president of training and talent development; Briana Holtzman, vice president of network engagement and convening; Rebecca Kahn, vice president of grantmaking and funding; Nila Rosen, vice president of learning and research; and Hannah Long, chief of staff.
FJC recently launched its 2026–2030 Strategic Direction, its most ambitious plan to date, to ensure every Jewish child can access exceptional Jewish camp experiences and every camp has the support it needs to deliver them. The five-year plan focuses on strengthening camp infrastructure and financial accessibility, investing in leaders and learning, and using research, partnerships and advocacy to champion Jewish camp as a strategic investment in the Jewish future.
