Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake is a value-driven Jewish overnight camp in the Hudson Valley, serving hundreds of campers each summer. Rooted in a deep connection to Israel and the Jewish people, leadership development, and experiential education, Sprout Lake fosters a joyful, inclusive community where campers build lifelong friendships, deepen their Jewish identity, and grow as confident, compassionate leaders.

Position Overview: The Head of Camp (Rosh Machane) is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall camper experience and programmatic vision of camp. This position supervises Unit Heads, ensures a cohesive and mission-driven program, and plays a central role in staff development, camp culture, and daily operations as a member of the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Oversight
– Oversee all camp programming, ensuring alignment with camp values and goals
– Supervise and support Unit Heads through coaching, guidance, and accountability
– Partner across departments to support camper care and program integration
– Contribute to decision-making on camper care, staffing, scheduling, and priorities
– Maintain clear communication and alignment across the camp
Staff Training & Development
– Design and lead pre-camp staff training in partnership with leadership
– Provide ongoing coaching, enrichment, and professional development
– Foster a culture of feedback, growth, and excellence
Camper Experience & Community
– Ensure a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers
– Monitor camper experience and proactively address challenges
– Collaborate with camper care teams to support individual needs
Camp Culture & Engagement
– Serve as camp “Master of Ceremonies,” leading assemblies and key moments
– Set the tone for camp spirit, energy, and community
– Create meaningful camp-wide experiences that foster connection and belonging

Dates: On Site from June 8-August 17, some pre-camp work is required
Salary: Depending on experience, $5000-$8,000

Work Location: In person

Compensation

$5000-8000/smr

Significant experience in camp or youth leadership settings Strong team leadership and management skills Experience in program development and staff training Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Strategic thinker with strong execution skills Passion for building Jewish community, connection to Israel and youth development
