FJC Kehillot (communities) are intentional communities for camp professionals to connect with peers who share similar work, experiences, or identities in their Kehillah (community).
Whether you’re looking for people who understand the complexities of your role or who share aspects of your identity and lived experience, Kehillot are spaces to find people who get it.
In a Kehillah, you’ll:
- Build meaningful relationships with peers who understand your work and experiences.
- Share real experiences including ideas, questions, challenges, and what’s working.
- Learn from one another through conversation and peer problem-solving.
- Expand your network so you have more people to call when you need an idea, resource, sounding board, or connection.
Two Types of Kehillot
- Communities of Practice (CoP): Connect with camp professionals doing similar work or navigating similar professional circumstances.
- Affinity Groups (AG): Connect with camp professionals who share an identity or lived experience.

Camps that Rent Their Facilities (CoP)
For professionals whose camps operate on rented or shared sites to connect around the opportunities, challenges, and realities of running camp without owning the property.

Retreat Center Operations (CoP)
For professionals whose organizations operate camp facilities beyond the summer to connect around the unique realities of year-round operations.

- Monday, November 30, 2026, at 2 PM ET.

Single-Gender Camps (CoP)
For professionals at single-gender camps (or camps that offer single-gender sessions) to connect around the opportunities, questions, and experiences unique to their camp model.

Community Care Professionals (CoP)
For professionals who work on camper care, staff care, mental health, disabilities inclusion, skills training / vocational education programs, or related portfolios. These gatherings provide space to connect with peers, collaborate on challenges, share resources, and discuss ideas.

LGBTQ+ Camp Professionals (AG)
For LGBTQ+ camp professionals to build relationships, share experiences, and find community with peers.

Parenting in the Camp World (AG)
For camp professionals navigating the intersection of parenting, family life, and working in the unique rhythms and realities of camp.

What to Expect
Kehillot are participatory peer spaces. Come ready to meet colleagues, share what you’re navigating, ask questions, and learn from the experiences of others. FJC staff will convene each group and help facilitate connection and conversation, but the community will be shaped by its participants.
- Most Kehillot will meet for four 60-minute virtual gatherings.
- Participants are encouraged to attend all four gatherings this Fall.
- Open to full-time or part-time year-round camp professionals in FJC’s Network.
- Registration is required.
Kehillot are peer communities, not trainings. If a group identifies a shared need for formal training or outside expertise, FJC may explore opportunities to address that separately.
